View Full Version : Quick hosting cost question
Just a thought. I have one of our girls coming in later to talk about us setting up a solo girl site for her as other people have mucked her about no end.
Is it a really stupid ' how long is a piece of string' question to ask for a rough hosting cost?
It would have all the usuals, pic gallery, video and a blog.
Or is that stupid?
Currently we work on a rev share with our hosts and I wanted to look at doing this outside that deal...
Thanks
Damian

Are you moonlighting :)
much traffic?
Probably not that much tbh
It's for one of the Spice Extreme presenters. So fetishy, and UKcentric.

hehe. I wish, PBUK owns all the rights, so it's actually a work thing, I just want to see if I can save the % that goes to revshare by organising myself. And what better place to ask for some basic ball park figure costs than here?

Try Webair (http://www.webair.com)
they have loads of great packages I am sure you will find one
I personally wouldnt run a paysite of a virtual acount, but if she isnt geting much traffic and hasnt got a huge members area, you can get a decent enough virtual account for as low as $39 but storage may be an issue, depends how much content there is
So I could go cheapy cheap or possibly need a dedicated box. As I thought, it was a piece of string question wasn't it?
Still if I cost it with a dedicated box, then if I can get away with a pikey one, it will make the financials even better and make me seem like some sort of god.
Thanks for the advice chaps.

I personally wouldnt run a paysite on a virtual box, although I wouldnt run anything on a virtual box. Especially as they are as cheap as $99 these days. which is only 4 sign ups. If its her own content then her only outgoings will be hosting, so 4 sign ups isnt much to pay for that.

Don't PBUK have their own servers they can host her site on?

No, that's why I was asking. We have a % rev share deal with the company that does out hosting, CMS, payment etc.

WOW really?
You are asking your questions wrong BTW -
You want to tell hosting companies what budget you have, what you can afford to spend each month. Once they have this they can calculate what they can offer.
Once you have this you can then compare apples with apples. Right now theres not enough information for anyone to give you a set answer. Basically come up with aneed, budget and timescale then you will get the figures that will help you make a choice.
I have to say I am shocked you dont have your own hosting, I beleive you have a deal with Premiumtv - the guys that do the soccer sites - for your adult sites if I am correct. -

I was tralking with them about affiliate systems but they seemed dead set of joining a 3rd party programme like affiliate future, shame they have some good sporting sites and should bring all that in house.
