Did yah watch it last night?
Any thoughts or opinions? I was quite impressed... Obviously, more so than with a 'magic show' we are being invited to guess how he did it, simply because he says he will tell us on Friday...
So, any thoughts or ideas?
I was pissing myself last night on some TV forums that were debating his method... Unbelievable ideas were being put forward!
But before I bother to say more... (Cause I dont know if anyone gives a fuck about it) Except Damo... Anyone have any thoughts on it, or fancy a discussion?
If not, I;'ll shut the fuck up... Im not being humble... Just kinda expected to find a thread hear this morning anyway... But there wasn't...
And, since my sobriety... Im getting better at taking a hint LOL

How does any magician do what they do?
Actually he said it took him a year so he probably recorded millions of outcomes and then a simple cut to the pre-recorded of him turning them round. In fact I bet this is exactly how he did it, thats why there was no one there.

But someone did the maths on it, and it appears that even in a year and a half, of 8 /10 hour days, there is nowhere NEAR the physical time available to actually record all the options... Even if he did it flat out, 24/7 for just 5 mins a piece... He COULDNT have done just over 14 Million versions...
This is, in part, why I am so interested :)

But, (From TV Forums) heres the logic... If you were Derren Brown, about to launch your new series of shows, and really step it up a notch, with a show being shown on C4 C4HD E4 More 4 Etc, then the 'Plus 1's)
You couldn't chance it going wrong! It had to be a situation that was 100% certain for Derren...
Don't get me wrong... I think hes brilliant at what he does... I even paid to go see him live... (Not something I normally do for anyone) but I really disbelieve that there was ANY chance of an error...

But, I just watched the clip. Loads of ways he could have done it. And I agree, you will not get the 'real' explanation on tomorrow's show. He certainly didn't record lots of outcomes. He cheated. He's a magician. It's what magicians do. :D

I dunno how he did it, obviously he didn't predict it really, so the 'trick' is how he made the balls appear as if they had the right numbers on them, and there are so many ways he could have done that, that speculation as to the specific technique is always going to be just that. Speculation.
All his other tricks you could actually 'do' if you knew they method. But this one, you'd never do, so meh. I don't really care how he did it. It was cool.
The thing with most "magic" is that if you knew how they did it then it becomes shit. I spent a few bob on magic tricks a few years ago and they were really impressive to the people who didn't know how it was done. I did some on my missus and then told her the "secret", when I did she wasn't overly impressive.
Obviously we all know he can't actuaklly predict the lottery otherwise he would win every week, so we just have to watch and wonder :)

Um, if you like reading old books, then yes.
It's cheap and is the 'bible' of mindreaders. I have had my copy years and it's well loved.
But, it is quite old, and quite hard to read. It is very instructional and dry. I am not sure you would get that much out of it, but it's cheap and worth a flick through whilst you are having a dump.

i once saw a guy in a tootsies on sunday doing magic for kids and he showed us this trick he'd (he claimed) invented his self which was a tin box full of cards on each of which were pictures of dogs of various breeds. he'd ask you to name a dog breed and whichever you named would be the breed that was on the top of the pile when he opened the box. not only was it unfathomable that your choice would be on the top no matter what but also, no matter how obscure a dog type you tried to pick that was what came up.
he wouldnt explain ANYTHING about the trick obviously but i so wanted a clue

I agree with Geezer on the bollocks and daveydude on the split screen thinggy, really.
The dead giveaway is the lack of studio audience so "nobody could benefit/profit" - how would they benefit/profit from seeing something that had already been predicted, not as if they could go out and buy tickets. It's obvious - you can't do split screen camera trickery with a live audience.
And he wasn't allowed to "announce" the lottery numbers before the BBC? So when was making a prediction of the lottery numbers against Camelot rules?
And it only works if you don't actually intend to try to win :)
Still I can see a fair few bunches of 24 schmucks getting together and trying it out and scratching their balls doing automatic writing then scratching their heads when they don't predict the numbers.
Still I wonder what advertising deals were done, all the rollover and Euromillions ads in between were a stroke of marketing genius and the genuine success of it was that it actually got me to watch the show and before I have never bothered, and it was all viral word of mouth stuff. Well played :)
I'd really love his explanation to be real though, that would be cool, I just don't think it is - probability isn't so simple, heisenberg and all that :)

Don't believe that ESP crap. When the numbers were being called out, he had his hand over his mouth the entire time, obviously calling some kind of trigger. He is very good, but I don't buy this Lottery stuff at all. David Blaine was good after that show on Friday!:D

You see him and a fixed set - What is really there is someone obviously placing the balls on the rack. Remove the split and hey presto - All balls are correct.
Would have been fucking funny if the guy putting the balls on the rack would have dropped one! (You would have heard the ball bouncing around yet still would have seen all the balls on the rack - )
Don't think chroma was used as the screen would have had to be removed at some point and from the clips I have seen, the lightning wasn't set for chroma.
Didn't see the actual thing live - But split screen seems the only way this could have been pulled off.

Unfortunately, I will not get to see any here in Poland and yes, I agreed already about the entertainment value.
Making a plane seemingly disappear, being run over by the wheels of a 20 ton truck and producing the answers from inside a brown envelope to random questions of an audience are all pretty simple things - Doing this in front of a live audience? Well, it can easily be done - But can you work out how? I already have.
