I've got the Samsung ML-1210. IT is only low usage for me. I don't know that would fit you though. A month or so back Ebuyer?? were offering the next one up, the 1610 for £10 more than a new toner cartridge for mine. About £50.

But is it a good one?

The last 'cheap' one i got was not so cheap as not only did it need new toner but also a new drum.

lasers are now at the same stage as ink ones. buy cheaply, use till toner is empty, throw away and get a new one.

mind that companies like Lexmark have 2 different packs. small PC dealers get sets with bigger toner cartridges. the sets are a tad more expensie than those at PC World and the likes, but the toner lasts quite a bit longer. usual toners for start packages are 1500 pages max, while the small shops tend to get 2500 page cartridges in their packages, to help compete with the chains. make sure you check on that detail when buying. many do not stress that advantage as a sales pitch.

I think the 1610 is so cheap its worth getting.

I will probably get it from ccl, it costs a bit more, but i can just drive to the shop, so it will save me the cost of post.

And if somthing goes wrong, its easy to take back.

Yeah I find it very good. The sandatd 1000 page toner cartridge lasted 2700 pages bfore I changed it. I am still only on 1500 pages with this cartridge so hard to tell how long this one will last.

No tech problems. I would tend to agree with HF about buy cheaply etc.

I might consider a refill for this cartridge if the printer is still going strong. If not I'll buy a new printer.

I bought an Epson R220 If you buy epson photo paper you would not believe the picture quality, plus it does A4 etc etc. Honestly its a great printer for absolute peanuts. I bought it after being recomended by a photo magazine. Its a great printer!

But it is an Inkjet so may not be any good

Just got the 1610. boy is it light.

Not opened the box yet, hope its got the thing inside.

I got a 160 gb hard drive and that seems to weigh more than the lazer does.

I though, its going to cost me at least £15 or so for 4 clone epson b/w things for my c62 epson printer, and to be honest you only seem to print out a few papes and your out of ink. I even have it set to b/w and have never printed colour, and yet it says the colour thing has almost run out!!!!!

So I think its cheaper just to buy a lazer.

I plan to buy a colour one later in the year as i think i will need it by then.

But for a few months this should do me. I have seen re-fills for £8 too. I can always give it to my dad once i get a new one.

He still has an old HP lazer, and he still on his first set of toner. It must be 10 years old by now, we got it when we had a 486, so its an old thing.
