yeah.. the "alleged" designer..

the design was with Webinc now known as http://www.kreadult.com

i chose them on strong recommendation, they've done affiliate designs
for many of the larger US programs... and i paid over the odds precisely
to avoid this type of situation..

i'm totally fucking flabbergasted that the first i hear of an infringement
is to find my sites are down and that bullshit email in my box... incredible.

waiting for Todd the CEO to contact me... maybe he can shed some light on this shit

theres some weird shit going around right now, I had a deactivation email from ccbill (first ever) of a sponsor I signed up to in march but have not promoted them in anyway as they only offer banners as content (something you don't find out about till AFTER you signed up to some sponsors!!!!)by the way I have xxxxxxxx my ccbill number and name of sponsor in case its all something malicious from a third party and nothing to do with sponsor....if you want to know who it is then PM me, for all I know it might not just be me....

"Important Information Regarding: Affiliate ID(s): XXXXXX Webmaster Program: XXXXXX Affiliate Program Your Affiliate account(s) has/have been deactivated due to violation of acceptable use policy. Thank you, CCBill"

deactivated due to violation of acceptable use policy

Could that be due to not sending any signups in the few weeks since I joined? If so thats now a violation? I'm not that fussed as I have not promoted them so not losing anything, I will say it involves latex fetish if this helps....

Hope I've not hijacked your thread Kinky John as your issues are more massive...just thought this could be important if theres some kind of thing going on in the kinky niche...

if you mean colocation, where you own your hardware but house it in a datacentre, you are depending on the hoster just as much.

if you seriously mean running your own box in your own house, you need to look up what a server room, air conditioned of course, UPS, and getting your boxes linked to a backbone would cost you. that doesn't even include yet that most regular office buildings, let alone houses, have the proper layout or setup to be used as a server farm.

Fuck sake I'm just a affilate!
no reason not to know the basics of networks. at least then you'd understand why 5 buck webspace is commonly shite and/or oversold.

Johnny Kleenexxx
05-19-09, 10:43 PM

agreed.. i know that now obviously.. but thanks for pointing it out yet again

thing is . . according to Dreamhost.. even your all singing and dancing servers
are at risk of the same issue.. regardless of how much you spend.. it's DMCA..

Sorry to hear that you've decided to leave over the matter. I want you to
know that I've not taken sides on the matter, the DMCA process makes it
so the hosting company does not need to decide if someone's telling the
truth or not simply that we comply with the DMCA process and follow the
rules set forth in the law.

I strongly recommend you familiarize yourself with this process because
if this is a scammer who intends to file fraudulent DMCAs against you,
then you will need to know your rights on how to handle the situation
legally (vs. jumping ship to the next host each time)

so are you saying that by spending more i can bypass DMCA procedures ?

Johnny Kleenexxx
05-19-09, 10:51 PM
anyway Dreamhost were a bag of shite before this all happened
they downed our sites intermittently for weeks prior to this
after an emergency "upgrade" in which they failed to transfer
key databases vital for our CMS and other scripts

they then disappeared for the weekend leaving all our sites down..
THAT is why we had a replacement server lined up already..

funny how it took us days to get answers to various tech issues
but it only took them a few hours to trash my whole business..

Johnny Kleenexxx
05-19-09, 10:58 PM

seems they blocked the full site.. because this cunt claimed to have designed it
despite the fact i shot every single pic on there.. and the design was 100% kosher

i don't need to steal shit from anyone.. i'm primary producer
just amazed that they don't see fit to issue a warning of some sort
"takedown within 48 hours or else" type thing..
at least that would give time to appeal without losing money

seems we're all guilty of copyright abuse unless we can prove otherwise

not at all reflective of "offline" law

long story mate..

yeah we mirrored the sites on new server a while back..
but couldn't switch DNS until now because the paths within
the CMS were all fucked up on the new server..

paid a freelancer to sort it out.. and it took way longer than expected..
so in the meantime i left the DNS pointing to the old Dreamhost server
and uploaded duplicate updates to both servers.. hoping for a seamless
transition.. this cunt today just accelerated the move.. i was planning
to fully test the new server set-up before going live to punters.. oh well..

agreed man. . but i had various blogs / freesites with them for ages with no aggy

the plan was always to upgrade asap with paysites being a different ballgame
so we had upgraded within Dreamhost initially thinking they could handle it
at least until i got used to running the program & stabilised the cashflow
was just trying to keep site overheads proportionate to early site revenue
as still only cottage industry here . . rome wasn't built in a day and all that ;)
