Just made a flash banner (swf file) works ok in IE but when checking it in Fierfox i just get the Quick-time player icon. Why is that ? I'm just using the firefox portable version on a USB memory stick could that be the reason

Any ideas greatly appreciated

Cheers JP i dicked about with the settings as explained in the forum. Had to uninstall QuickTime, this then gave me an icon in the place of my banner to download the Firefox SWF plugin (all working great now)

If youve had that problem, how many surfers will have the same, but not do what you did ??
If the banners are on your servers, why not put in a bit of scripting to put a normal gif there if firefox is the browser ...

Yeah it did cross my mind, even worse i built a full site last month with a lot of flash ! instead of using thumb galleries i built each model a flash movie containing 15-20 nice size thumbs etc..

Yeah yeah i know you should keep away from the bells & whistles, its a small micro niche site so figured that it might work. its fell on its arse lol. could be due to a lot of people now using Firefox and coming across the same problem i had ?

Was looking at converting them to Gif using the Magic Swf2Gif software not cheap at $199.00 and hesitant to spend anymore money on this project due to the low returns so far. I should practice what i preach "KISS" (Keep It Simple Stupid) :eyebrows:
