I spent £20 on presents today, and that includes a pack of Christmas cards.

And that's all I am spending.

I am fed up of spending a ton of cash on presents people will not use.

So this year I just got 6 boxes of chocolates and a packet of cards. That's it.

Total cost from Tesco was £26, which also included two pints of milk, a computer mag and some food.

The way I see it, is that now I can buy the person I love most something special. And that's me.

If you're spending a ton of cash on presents people will not use then you're not putting enough thought/personality into the presents. You're right though, what's the point in getting them something they won't use? Put some effort/thought into it and make sure it's something they will love/use.

This year for my Mum, I went to the Tesco online store and made a "hamper" (ok I just went shopping and had it delivered to my mum's but the idea was a personal "xmas hamper" filled with stuff she'd like) I bought a ton of stuff I knew she'd like but would never "waste" money on buying it herself. All the usual xmas type stuff, tub of Roses, tins of biscuits, bottles of pop, party food, etc etc. I think I took advantage of nearly every 2 for one, and multibuy on nice goodies they have, as well as adding in other stuff I know she likes.

I had it delivered at the weekend so she'd have it for this week leading up to xmas too. I can honestly say I've never known my Mum so excited and thankful over a present. Even if she feeds most of it to family and visitors over the holidays it's made her happy and I know she'd never have treated herself to the stuff. She has a full freezer and stuffed cupboards for xmas. Much better than just spending a fiver on a box of choccies or a book.

I've been all over ebay and amazon for weeks, making sure I get things that people want and will use. But then I love choosing and giving gifts far more than I like getting them myself.

I'm fucking sick of buying my kids toys that they either break or don't use come boxing day.

I said this year I was going to buy all their stuff from Argos and then take it back after Xmas, they wouldn't even miss it.

I did that last year.

I bought my best mate a big box of Thortons chocolates.

I sat and ate them, and just gave him a chritass card.

They were great.

Ate the whole lot in one go.

I hate to buy presents till the last minute just in case somone dies, I would hate to wast the cash.
