View Full Version : Mobile Broadband Options?
Looking at mobile broadband options, for when I'm travelling..... (phone is too small to be a serious option)..... Currently on Vodafone and could add to my existing contract, but would use it infrequently so looking at PAYG options.....
I've heard good things about 3 but unsure about coverage......
For infrequent use, is PAYG an option - I'd be downloading emails and checking websites ok etc..
I use 3 and find it very good - Also have an iPhone also very good for coverage and much better for emails out and about than a lappy.

What is really so important that you need to send and recieve e-mails while out?
Also with mobiles, when people are going out for a meal or just a drink why do they take their mobiles with them. Unless your wife was about to give birth or your greyed haired old mum was on her death bed, whats the point?

Because they have to twitter what they had to eat and drink, and if the latter two cases apply, they will get more followers, innit... :reading:

Ahhhh yeah I forgot about twitter, makes sense now
depending on how infrequently you'd use it, it might be an option to just use your mobile as modem, if it supports that. saves you carrying aroudn another item when out.
else 3 is brilliant, especially if you also travel to countries with a 3 sister network.

How dare you!!!!!!!!!! Im no Twitterer...........:spank:
Geezer - I'm suprised you didnt know that - that the last time I let you rim me...:gaylords:
I am not 1 of those who needs to pick up my emails every 5 mins..... but I've just come back from being away in Kenya for 3 weeks, where there was supposed to be internet and there wasn't - but some ppl were getting a good mobile internet service........
I am away on a boat for a week in early june where there is no internet connection - so looking at options.....
Also I get hacked off at the prices some hotels charge these days!!!! They used to sting you for Telephone charges - now its internet connection...
unless you stay in the harbour, you'll be hard pressed to get much of a connection on a boat, let alone anything 3G.

We travel about a lot and don't have a permanent base where we shoot so having easy access to booking confirmations for airlines and hotels is great. Same with models, we speak on the phone, they email pics, we ring back instantly and book them, wherever we happen to be.
These days its why would you choose to be out of touch when its so easy to be in touch when your business is online.

Because when I go out I want to be talking to the people I am with and not fucking about with a phone. If I go out for the night I do not need to have a phone, no one does unless for reasons I mentioned earlier.

I never use mine for Emailing, there's nothing that is THAT urgent via Email...
However, I always have it with me for access to our servers, statistics etc.
Being able to remotely access your servers while on the move is invaluable...

Being rich I employ filipinos to look after them while I rest.....
I fuckin hate mobile phones, and leave it behind every chance I get.

Just employ them when you go out then, save you having to worry about checking things while you are out.

Always handy if you forget your PIN for the ATM, you can ring your wife to ask here what your PIN is.
