View Full Version : Is AOExpo Worth Attending?
Why do you or dont you attend?
Thanks
Prague definitely wasn't worth it, if one just looks at the seminars and stuff. in fact the organization was a bit crappy, it seemed one hand didn't know what the other did.
the new contacts made during those days made it worthwhile though.
Ive never been, but it seems to me when ever I go to anything like this, everyone is trying to sell you something and no one is trying to buy

Sounds like the business breakfast meetings I use to go to

That's what does it for me - the contacts I may make is what makes me go.

I attend to network and find clients who need processing or anything else I am able to offer. Before I go I ask my contacts what they may be interested in knowing, questions they would like me to ask other people there.
If you go you should ask for a speakers slot and discuss the benefits of selling product of subscription / alone side subscription.
It total its five shows for me, Dam x 2, Prague x 2 & Lisbon -
Holland is the right place to have it - you can do good business and relax in the hotel they use for this location.
What I will say is that its never failed to pay for its self, I have always made more then I have spent - and that I figure is the bottom line

other than your personal preference for Amsterdam, what kept you elsewhere from doing biz?

The lay out of the show - its all wrong in Prague, Lisbon was done well, no parties this meant people had to work, which in my view is why we are there.

all this had little to do with the actual hotel though.
i also recall you moaning in Prague and saying you wouldn't attend any AOE shows anymore anyway. has that changed then, seeing you are all for Amsterdam now?
Wow 72% say no... we really need to get something sorted in the UK

I am surprise it hasn't already been done -
The only wm "event" I ever attended in the uk turned out to be a total pissup with very loud music - Still made some useful contacts, tho.

I went to the Pheonix Forum this year and it was too near the date to go to both. The Pheonix Forum was so good that I can't see myself skipping it again to go to another show. However, if it got the same sort of people I would think about it.

The boat ones have been the same. I doubt I'll go to another.
We may look at doing a small gathering for this site, maybe around August. Im thinking of maybe doing something a bit different and low key. Maybe even get some stalls going etc. I guess it depends on the interest level there is

Yep that was me :p
I was there too. This is going to sound stupid but sometimes I reckon name badges should be worn at these things because I missed many people who I should have spoken too.
Having said that I do remember several from B&B being there :)

the seriously annoying part for me was to talk to people who knew who i was but i didn't know them. i have a terrible memory issue when it comes to names and faces.
back home i was contacted on ICQ by someone who claims we chatted along, until today i have no recollection who they were. cannot realyl admit that though.
so yes, hooray for name badges. even if just voluntarily.

They done a job on me with the pass's and they knew it. Basically taken a further £200 off me and I was still no able to go into certain zones. I had spoken with them and said what I wanted to do and was advised that I must upgrade.
If its in Holland I will go, there are other people I know there who i do business with so its more productive.

I think it would better to hold in a room in a hotel - the boat scares the shit out of me so I have to get pissed to cope with it.
By the time I stagger off and scream at the Germans I'm so happy to be on dry land we party in my hotel room lol
What wouls also help tim is if they did not let every tom dick and harry get on, last time round there were a whole bunch of people who just crashed it :-)
