I saw a movie about him a few months back. One of the founders of a LA gang. Got done for murder, got sentenced to death. Found enlightenment in the early 90s and started writing anti-gang books to try and teach kids that gangs aren't clever and to not go down the road he did. Got nominated for Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts.

I'm all for the death penalty when pyschos are beyond help. But this one was just plain wrong. Whatever his motives in writing the books (some say it was just a clever way to save his neck) if he saved just one kid from joining a gang then he deserved to have his death sentence commuted to life in prison. There are too many psychos on death row who never see the error of their ways, don't even have the social conscience to attempt to make amends. Tookie did.

Killing him served no purpose, letting him live to carry on his work would have.

Maybe its because Arnie got turned down for the lead role at the movie auditions. :eyebrows:
