Just a quick question from a noob - do UK sites have to have 2257 compliance notices the same as US sites do? Or is it different for UK sites?

Thanks

2257 is a usa law. Ie, us law only applies to the us.

The UK (EU) has Data Protection laws which prevents documents being freely available.

However most UK sites will have a 2257 page stating that the site is in the UK and so are the models and so where the shoots.

(See my site www.BritishSlags.com (http://www.BritishSlags.com) as an example on the frnt page).

However things may change. If you are shooting models its always worth getting at least two forms of ID, such as a passport and driving licence thus if the law in the UK does change then you are covered with luck. At the moment you do not (under UK law) need these, but its worth having as at least as it covers your back.

Plus at the very least its so much fun looking at the passport pics of the models.

So what he was trying to say is...NO

I do not have any 2257 on any of my paysites, why would/should I?

I do put something like "2257 info here" on galleries and freesites just because most won't accept without it

Thanks for the advice guys, really appreciate it. Does it make any difference if the content on my site comes from the US? Just to complicate things... lol

2257 is a US law not UK - that should answer your question

that should make life easy. you should get a copy of the documents when you buy the content, so ask the person you buy the content from what to put in the 2257 page.

Hi

Does it make any difference if your site is hosted on a server in the US?

Thanks

its a US law for US webmasters - if your business is based in UK & you pay UK taxes 2257 does not apply - hosting doesn't come into play

I guess it does not harm to have as your site will be viewable in the US and if you provide, for example, phone sex, then US people can phone this from the US on a normal landline as they can using Skype for example!
