French to Disconnect File-Sharers (http://www.ynot.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=news_article&sid=48336)
Could it work to our benefit?
PARIS -- The French Senate has declared its independence from the European Parliament by approving legislation that would require anyone caught illicitly sharing copyrighted content to be disconnected from the Web.
Under the proposed three-strikes or “graduated response” anti-piracy statute, the first time an internet user is suspected of stealing content, he will be warned via email. The second offense will deliver a warning by postal mail, and the third will result in the automatic suspension of his online privileges for a year.
The European Parliament this summer passed a non-binding amendment to the pan-European Telecoms Package that specifically condemns disconnection as a punishment for content piracy. The European legislative body likely was responding to France’s suggestion that the bundle of international telecoms laws be amended to include such a measure. French lawmakers were undeterred, however, and proceeded with their own plan instead of a rival measure that would have replaced the disconnection provision with a fine, as the rest of the European Union favors.
Internet service providers have protested the measure since it was mentioned in July, saying the proposed law would put on their shoulders the entire burden of policing the internet for copyright violations.
Although the bill passed the Senate on a resounding 297 to 15 vote, it still must clear the National Assembly before being enacted
Something needs to be done to stop the file sharing and any other thieves. Pirates gives them the wrong image.
The West is facing financial ruin, or maybe just a lot of very big problems. Gordon Brown is running around with a begging bowl to see what he can get or better what he can sell. We are going to get ass fucked by the Arabs and Chinese.
So we need to start finding things we can sell to the rest of the world. So let's make a list of things that we could sell to others.
Music.
Fims.
Games.
Programming.
Porn
And other Internet products and services.
So what's stopping us?
You got it, they are mostly being stolen and it's costing us in the West billions. Any method of turning these guys off is good for me.

True or not?
The saddest thing is no one in this industry is really concerned enough to do anything other than post on boards and send a DMCA. Which are both fairly pointless.
Yes I know Wicked are suing Pornotube and that's not the way to close them down thieves either. We can only hope someone else saves our jobs for us.

The Music Film and Games world are mostly big corps who can afford to throw legal teams at this . but the UK porn world is simply full of people who cant afford to get a bus to court never mind a lawyer..

The porn industry was estimated to be worth $25 billion. If we can't come together and fight these fuckers that's our fault. There are probably easier ways to reduce the impact on us rather than trying to sue them. If we work as an industry and not a collection of individuals.
Tube sites are there to promote/advertise other sites. If we give away dating and live web cam for free it would mean the buyers who will pay for these services will come over and buy memberships from us. We will have a big enough effect on their sales that they will have to severely cut back on their costs. And it snowballs.
Or we just keep saying we are doomed and all keep struggling and sending out pointless DMCAs. And wait for the Governments to save our arses. Stopping Torrent downloaders will have little effect on our business. Those guys are not the real problem.
Yes it would be tough to organise and have dating and cam sites on paysites, but easier than what it will be like. Do a graph of your earning into next year and continue the decline. Or calculate how much harder you have to work next year to make what you make now.

The annihilation of our manufacturing industry in the 1980s might NOT have been the smartest move, in hindsight. And we were a big coal producer once, weren't we? And steel?
As for selling programming... we decided to become a "low tax economy" in the 1980s, which involved trashing our education system (and health, transport...) Those countries that invested in education have the best and cheapest skills today.
What are we good at selling? Weapons to fuckers like Saudi Arabia.

Those countries that don't have unions and people on 200 quid a week?
Low tax and consumerism. Actually it's what the tax is spent on that's important. When you start investing in the wrong things you start the rot.

Bloody chinks would not stay in their place. They now own us. And they will be part of the future plans of us all.
