There was actually a serious discussion on Radio 4 yesterday morning asking about Obama and Lewis Hamilton about "Why they are called Black" when both have a black and white parent each..

Anyway, ask yourself. If presidents are just puppets, then given the current economic mess that Obama will inherit. Will he become the 'black hero' who turns the economy round and saves the world. Or, more worryingly will he forever be the black bogeyman that presided over the worst economic depression the country has ever seen..

Just a thought..

Just to clear it up, wouldn't the correct term be..."Mulatto" ?

Yes, presidents in the US generally are mere puppets...we should all know that the House and the Senate are the "puppet masters" therefore they control the "strings" of the "puppet" for the bills to be passed into law here in the states, presidents have no "real" power.

Obama represents the Democratic party is really all he does, it's not like this is something new with any president, the goal of each "party" is to control the House, the Senate and the Presidency to implement their agendas, visions, or whatever you wanna call them in order to feed the "sheep" of the country their philosophy's *sigh*

As well everyone should know that each newly elected president in the US "inherits" the previous one's fuck ups, and it would take much more than 4 years to correct this country in it's current state. Seems a LOT of people are under the impression that Obama has some sort of magical powers, when in fact he's just another puppet on a string.

The only thing I will say that he's got going for him, is he has a democratically controlled house & senate and they will now tell him what he can and cannot do lol even if he were to veto something, all that needs to happen is to run the bill back through a second time and it's easily over ridden by the house and senate, so really there is no winner here and we all pretty much get it up the ass with whichever party we pick in the US.

There really are no other parties in the US other than Republican & Democrat as one would be lead to believe there is at first glance, seeing as there were 14 different candidates on the ballot for president if you include the write-in candidate. The only ones who ever get in are a Dem or a Rep, and until the sheep in this country speak up and say NO MORE! I suspect that's all there will really ever be here.

BOTH parties are corrupt IMHO which is why I myself voted for Stephen Colbert :P

ermm...that was a joke as in...haha....funny....an attempt at humour...of course I wouldn't waste my vote on him, although imo he'd be a far sight better than what our two choices were.

Black is a demographic grouping rather than a description of actual colour.
I've wasted many hours explaining to ignoramuses that just because I was born in England, have an English name, an English accent and English attitudes I am still black.
The fact that one of my parents is white makes no difference to the demographics - even though I actually wish it didn't matter at all.
Nevertheless, this racial grouping is one that, once imposed (and I assure you that it is indeed imposed) cannot easily be removed.
"But you're just like one of us." Some idiots actually say in front of more enlightened people - deftly bypassing the 2 factors that might have saved them the embarrassment of self-imposed public ridicule:
1. They've just insulted half my family and a good deal of my friends.
2. If they're that stupid, I don't actually wish to be just like them.
If the legitimacy of a person's acceptance of my colour ever comes into question I usually thank them for being kind enough to think of me as something other than just another nigger and then inform them that I'm currently dating their sister...
...usually sorts the men from the boys.

Perhaps a better phrase would be that it helps to expose the niggers in the woodpile.

We've also adopted American usage in this case. In British terms, Obama is mixed race, but in America, people are black if they have any visible African heritage, even if they're close to white.

BTW did anyone see the reports of Obama's family celebrating in Kenya? It was pretty cool.
