Traveling around Asia would still be a bargain for you paying in pounds. Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Thailand, etc, etc, though I'd imagine America land would be a bugger.

Currently living in Thailand and i've lost 15 baht to the £ in the last 10 months, the pound is on it's arse. Small rise today but it still means i get to sleep with one less lady of the night every week now. Grumble Grumble.

I think its looking very likely interest rates here will be cut in a matter of days, then you can see the pound fall faster than a pair of Andrew Sachs grandaughters knickers

Lowering interest rates (and hence devaluing the pound) or going on a Keynsian spending spree are Browns main options for stimulating growth according to the text books.

Even before the crisis we could have done with a devaluation - as could every UK exporter - but it was never his favourite tactic. We've had a housing crash for a while and lower interest would bail out everyone, but still they didn't rush to drop the rates.

He seems to much prefer spending to lowering the interest rate, so my bet is that interest rates will stay too high and be brought down too slow. Right now the US is 1% and the UK is 4.5% - so there's plenty of catching up to do.

As usual with Brown, leaving it too long and then offering medicine to a patient who is already dead is seen as the best option. he get's to look good by having offered, but strangely, the patient doesn't finish the course. - Or cost him any money.
