we got thrashed actually

A fucking discrace. Everytime they bowl "apparently" its a bowlers wicket. Everytime we bowl its "apparently" a batters wicket.

I like Vaughan, hes a great captain, but he needs to start leading by example too. He needs to be able to stay in for more than a couple of overs. He hasnt done that in a very long time. Even his 160 at the ashes was floored, he was bowled out on a no ball, he was caught and dropped and was LB'd more than once.

Didn't see any of it on TV, but it looks as though Pakistan did to England what England did to the Aussies: bowled a lot better, put the batsmen under pressure and then waited for the mistakes to happen.

I haven't checked the stats, but I think that England made more than 400 in an innings only once, with the next best 300 odd. You can't compete in Test match cricket on that basis.

Tour itineraries need to be looked at, especially with multiple Test matches being played in a short space of time. Effectively England had one first class warm up game before the first Test and no games between the Test matches themselves. Cricket in Pakistan is very different to here, so practise is important, especially for batsmen.

That problem was compounded by the selection. Given the compressed timespan of the Test series, Strauss should have been left at home as he could only play in the first two matches.

Much the same kind of itinerary is planned for the next tour of Australia. The mind boggles. What are the administrators playing at?

The balance of the batting is also open to question. By playing two spinners, it was obvious that Flintoff was going to have a lot of work to do as a bowler, probably too much for someone coming in at fourth wicket down. Having Pietersen at 5 didn't help. Aside from his hundred in the second Test, he did nothing with the bat and got out three or four times with poor shots. I'm going against popular opinion, but I've very real doubts that he'll be playing Test cricket in a couple of years' time because of a suspect technique and too much focus on his own performance.

There are some pluses though. Bell and Collingwood put in some good performances, while Harmison proved that he can perform away from home and Trescothick's performance in the first Test was outstanding. England are still a very good cricket team, although this tour showed that they aren't yet the finished article.

Not sure where to get a Pakistani Curry..doesnt have the same ring as going for an "Indian"

So maybe some overpriced out of date food from the local corner shop... :)

We used to have a Pakistani curry house at the end of the road when we lived in Darlington back in the 80s and it was excellent.

They should now introduce a new "Ashes" style trophy for matches against Pakistan, but in the form of a curry dish. Pakistan just retained the curry dish - will England reclaim the curry next time round?
