Hi all.
I have been thinking about this for some time, and was chatting about this with Kay (the model who you see a lot on sneezwort.com).
I thought I would suggest it, especially as Terry (One Eyed Jack) has joined the forum, so he may find this of interest.
I was watching that think about the chap in the buff, and I realised that for most of us in the adult bizz the law is vague. An example being selling DVD's. I have heard many versions of what's legal. Sure I know if its R18 it has to be sold in sex shops, but then some tell me you can sell DVD's as long as you do not post it. Others have said you can bring in DVD's from other countries, while others have said its not legal. And so on......
Another example is dogging sites. As dogging is an offence, is it an offence to promote a dogging site?
When you think about it, there are lots of twists that could catch you out.
So an idea I had was to contact the police and ask if someone would be happy to answer these questions if I gave them the questions first. after all its not to trick the police, its to get correct answers.
Of course these would be on English law as Scottish law will differ.
So is this a good idea or not?
If you think its a pointless thing to do, I will not bother, or if someone else wants to do it then that's cool.
Lets face it, there are many many people who think porn is illegal in the UK.
Excellent idea, but keep on the make-up and go into the station with the video camera on your shoulder too so that you can record it and then upload it to your blog?
police is the executive branch, you'd need to know about the stance of the judiciary, those who actually slap you or not.
also, will you get this in writing and signed? anything they just tell you holds no value really, as you have nothing to hold them to in case of a contradicition.

Thus if anyone had anyproblems you could play the mp3.

I think I will have to go smart (I may have a bath that week too).
I think a vid would be pointless, but the plan is to do it as an mp3.
now that will be interesting to see how it works out.
you'd still need a written consent anyway, else they can claim you played with the sound file. (apart from me thinking it's pointless to ask any police guy and the small chance of you getting any official answers to begin with)

The law is so vague you couldnt even get a judge to give you a definative answer.
Exactly, if you did ever get arrested and taken to court for any of the offences you mention you'd get different verdicts from different judges. It all comes down to their interpretation of the law, not the police so having anything on tape, camera or even signed by them wouldn't make a blind bit of difference. You'd be better of talking to a lawyer who if you did get arrested and charged would argue their case.

The simple thing I had in mind was to get the policman to say the time at the start and end, thus if needed you could time the interview.
Its not meant as in legal advise (as in a solicitor) but to give you the solid stuff. Such as is it legal or not to sell dvds from your home that you made. Think not just from us (who have a bit of an idea) but somone who is totaly new to this.
The idea is not to use it as defence, but to syop you from making a BIG mistake.
One exaple being what content you can shoot outside. As you know its now an offence to have sex outside, but is it ok to just shoot a nude. I get models ask me this a lot as they are worried they are commiting an offence.
The thing is that most (if not all) of the serious companies and individuals here already have *excellent* professional legal advice and representation. This is a serious business just like any other and your time would be better spent talking to someone with *real* expertise in the adult business if you want real answers to your questions.

we agree this is a business? good.
in ANY business you start you will have to mind rules and regulations. ignore them and you get slapped. why should anyone care about someone newly starting asking the right questions and not just go by uninformed guesses?

Maybe instead of talking to local police etc who are prolly likely to have to look up information, why not go direct to the "internet watch foundation"

I will have a look at www.iwf.org.uk (http://www.iwf.org.uk)
But as I say, I was going to give the policman the questions first so he could look them up and get advice.
Also I thought it may be nice to get police on board, rather than as them and us.
The chances are your average plod isn't going to know the answers anyway

Sure.
But it would be a sneior policman anyway.
I am not simply going to walk up to the first policman I see (they are all sat in my local Esso getting free drinks).
I was going to write a letter and see if one of the top dogs would do it, one of those in the fancy uniforms with all the medels and stuff.

It would be interesting to listen to but there is no way you would get them to do it.
Ive paid a fortune to my solicitor over the years and Ive never had a straight answer out of him.

Not at all.
I just thought people may find it of use.
I wouldn't ask the police as they don't know the law.
I once phoned to ask at what age a child can sit in the front of a car without a car seat, they didn't know.
Another time a shop forged my signature and got £20 off my Debit card, I went to the policse and was told they are allowed to do it, FUCK OFF!

Is it just police u need to ask????? Someone I know who sell dirty amateur videos via mail order has just been turned over by Trading Standards and they're taking him to court......

:agree:
The police are the last people in the world to ask. They know fuck all about the very basics of law, let alone a specialist field like obscene publications and anything related
What age is it. I thought 12, but i am not sure.

I have said this before about the law and our business
Never....Never get the police involved....They will turn things on you and before you know it your servers, PCs are siezed. They keep them and scrutinise them for however long they want ...Oh you will get them back but its your business lost in the meantime
even if you have done nothing wrong...
The law on adult material in England and Wales is simple.. R18 can be sold in licenced premises ONLY, all other things are a grey area
and its that Grey area the police use to thier advantage
