Ok I getting a little pissed off with the way parking is allocated esp when its a council run building like the sports centre I play footy at twice a week.

They just spent a shed load of money on a new pool, gym and at last a car park their own one we were well chuffed to hear about this as you could never park as all the fat birds do steps at the same time.

Anyhow been using this new CP for 3 weeks or so and Im pretty pissed off as all the parking that is at the front of the building is saved for the disabled people and fuck there are loads of spaces for them. I would have been forgiven to think I had arrived at a hospital not a sports centre.

You have just shown what a prick you can be...

I can't wait to see you physically disabled and struggle to add to your now obvious mental disability...

Go anywhere and the parking spaces near the entrance are reserved for the disabled..

And don't come back with a dumb retort about what are the disabled doing there to start with. There are many forms of disability as well as your mental state !!!

I have written this as my late father was disabled and also having elderly and disabled relatives you cunt !!

I don't understand the hostility towards SmithsMedia.

Yes of course there should be disabled parking as close to the entrance as possible, but shouldn't those spaces be in proportion to the numbers of disabled members. Obviously I don't know, but I bet there are not that many disabled people using those spaces.
I suppose it's all down to council regulations and the amount of disabled parking they say there must be.

It's like London Taxi's, they all had to be converted for wheel chair access, tha cost many 1,000's of pounds per taxi, but how many disabled people actually use Taxi's.

Before you have a pop at me as well, two of my friends are disabled, my Nephew had severe Cerebral Palsy and two of my sisters are entitled to park in disabled bays.

one of my friends has a motorised wheelchair so could be park a mile away and it wouldn't really matter, my other friend, who doesn't have a motorised chair, always has someone to push. My Nephew could only get anywhere if pushed and my two sisters would not be to badly distressed if they had to walk a little way.

The bigger problem is abled bodied "cunts" who park in those disabled bays. I think SmithsMedia's point was that that there are more disabled spaces than disabled members, so the only people who will benefit are those wankers that think there is nothing wrong with parking in a disabled parking space when there is fuck all wrong with them.

If some one parks in a bay without the paper work they should have a big sticker put on their window and be fined and fined heavy. I dont park in these bays but am getting more frustraded.

When you go to a big retail park they should make one area in the middle for all the disabled people with a couple of people there to help. Make nice smooth paths to the shops and offer transport for those who cant walk 30 meters (but can drive a car really safely).

Its never gonna end before we know it you will have to park and ride to get to Tesco's as they have allocated 300 spaces to disabled people and 200 to people with buggies.......

I quite suprised at your response, I thought you would have more to say on the subject.

To go and gas the 'cripples' as you call them would be a little extreme don't you think? Being in the sports centre tonight I was over come by the number cripples who could all of sudden take part in game of football or do step arobics.

You find me a 'cripple' that can arobics and I will make you a millionare.

Now I know you will have something intelligent on the subject want to start again?

Disable Parking Permits mean nothing these days, if I go to the doctors and moan about my back I bet I would get one, because we issue them like this we have this problem, too many allocated spaces.

Away from the sports centre at tescos they have like one entire car park right in the front of the store, about 15 - 20 disabled spaces, all full 905 with the tickets, yet I go in the shop everyone looks happy and dandy.

I know what a disability is and I also know people with disabilities want nothing more then to be treated as an equal.

All people with a disability need in car park is more room around the car and a safe area to mount and dismount their kit, if they rely on any.

So far according to your input and Joes input I am baffled why these people would come to a sports centre on such mass that warrants a take over of the front car park.

from Joe - even though my father had a gammy leg from Polio as a child

and from you - Cripples

Unless they plan to hold a rally or some kind of major sporting event its just a dam waste of space and is unfair to other users of the sports centre but seeing as I am able bodied, working and white I can't say anything.

I think its a fair comment if there are lots of spaces that are not being used. I dont see why you have all taken such offence, he hasnt attacked disabled people, just the fact that lots of spaces at his sports centre have not been used. Its the same at Waitrose, when I do my shopping. Tons of mother and baby parking spaces. That are not being used.

That said, anyone who cant afford to go to a private Gym and goes to a sports centre should have to walk. Fucking Pikeys!

LOL First blood to NoNuts for really ringing your bells guys.

I would however like to gas the airheads who park their enormous 4x4 suburban tractors in the mother and child bays and then get one small child out of the back. Why exactly do parents get preferential treatment in car parks anyway? No disabled person chooses to be disabled, but surely parents choose to be parents?

I go there for soccer dude - http://www.5-a-side.org.uk Im not too keen on public funded gyms and esp swimming pools. But saying this when I was in Leeds I went to Cookeridge Hall Country Club for my R and R and they had one space for the badge holders and it was no where near the front door - no one ever used it.

Rosie just asked my mate about this - he uses the place at the same time as me, hes got an issue with toddler's parking too.

I agree with you. It's like at Tesco they are never filled when it is busy. There should be half the spaces and then let them fight over them like the feckin rest of us have to do.

Not a fan of toddler and parent parking bays to be honest too. Once again, normal people are penalised for not having kids or being crippled.

This is the quote from the lad who plays in goal for us, when I do the tesco's run its just pointless driving round looking for a space. Yet often allocated spaces are empty. With the supermarket they could at least put times on them so say at 8pm the x amount of spaces can be used by anyone.

I would love to park near the door of the sports centre, this is thing I and the others I go there with find really annoying.

OK my point / moan is dead simple -

My sports centre has just been fixed up and a new car park made. They have in my view created too many specialist spaces that often remain empty.

Some people have taken a chance to discuss other special parking spaces which is what this is about.

I dont park in the bays I dont think people who do park in the bays are heros I just think there needs to be a better ballance.

I dont know which supermarkets you are talking about with the disabled and mother baby parking.

We have a shop inside a major supermarket which happens to be right in front of the disabled parking the car park has somewhere in the region of 300-400 spaces and about 20 only in front of our shop are for the disabled.

You can guarntee that half of those are filled with cars belonging to non disabled mostly kids in their souped up little cars who are too lazy to walk from the main car park.

My friend broke his neck and will be in a chair for the rest of his life, but he has a lovely converted van and drives himself everywhere.

Its not an issue with disabled parking my issue is the volume of spaces and the location of them thats getting on my goat. Esp my local sports centre.

I guess no one has considered that the sports centre may offer specific disabled events (swimming club or other sports - say a wheelchair basketball team or something) several times a week that may need that amount of spaces only on those specific occasions? Which then leaves the spaces empty the rest of the time.

If you are familar with applying for work within anything government based either on a national level or local level you will see that they use + discrimination.

Where I lived it was not easy to get work and the biggest employer was the council closely followed by the retail stores. The words I quoted are ones that meant you basically never stood a chance of a job.

White, Able Bodied, Straight, Male - as for my ethnic origan that's India. My father came over when he was a lad with his 8 brothers and 6 sisters. We lived in North London where he opened his first shop.

You can guarntee that half of those are filled with cars belonging to non disabled mostly kids in their souped up little cars who are too lazy to walk from the main car park.

Now your really talking bollocks
Every time i see someone parked in a disbled bay that shouldnt be there they are nearly always middle class and with nice cars
The elderly and middle class are the real rude fuckers in this country..In our local tesco's the other week we had a well to do lookinig women who was tesco's staff (and it was obvious she was working for a bit of pin money and thought herself above working there) ..anyway she took ages at the checkout in front of us chatting to the cashier tutted at a small child crying in her mums arms while struggling with shopping. (Helping her was way beneath her) she was telling the woman she was off home to polish her new horse or something equally posh.
Then we caught her up outside to find her loading her shopping into a Brand new Rav 4 in the nearest disable bay to the shop and no disabled badge

And people talk about kids in small hatchbacks with loud sound systems as being antisocial

I would bet anything that if you approached either of that social groups and pointed out thier behaviour the verbal abuse would more often come from the middle aged women

I for one am glad the distinction between rich and poor is growing

Get rid of the middle class for good...

Just for the record I consider myself working class no matter how much money i have

I would however like to gas the airheads who park their enormous 4x4 suburban tractors in the mother and child bays and then get one small child out of the back

Have you ever tried to get a child out of a normal car in a normal parking space..

Leave 4x4s alone they take up no more room than a normal car and are no more fuel consumptive than a hot hatch driven hard. As for city parking its one car one space... doesn't matter if is a Smart car or a Range Rover

Fact...council guidelines on parking space sizes have not changed in 30 years for (most) coucils
but cars are getting bigger for example the current BMW 3 series is bigger than the first 5 series. Have you ever tried parking a 4x4 in a multi story and then opening doors to get kids out..

before you call me a 4x4 owning airhead..
I drive a Fiat Multipla and a Mini Cooper S..But have owned thousands of cars from Fiat 500s to Ferrari 360s. raced Minis in the 70s. Formula ford and formula 3 in the 80s and held top motor trade positions..
So can argue about cars and driving all day and I will :)
( Note to self Maybe the above is why i am shit at this business)

Talking bollocks how the fuck do you know? I see it every day with my own eyes when im in the shop which is 20yards from the disabled bays. I could guarantee if I went down there today half would be filled with non badge holders and at least half those cars would belong to kids.

Last summer I watched a young guy in his car continually blow his horn for a car which was waiting for a disabled space to move out of the way because he thought there was a parking space at the end of the disabled bay which is in a closed area so it has a turning point at the end. When the old guy got out of the car to ask him why he was blowing his horn he called him all the old cunts under the sun.

Maybe its the area I don't know.

Seeing kids sat on a bin and spitting on the floor and dropping rubbish its a pretty sad thing. We live in a good place and I think the youth don't realise how bad a lot of people have got it.

Everything has slipped I was really shocked when ours went up a school her uniform is basically a polo shirt and black trousers. We wore blazers and ties, girls too though with kilts.

Just wanted to say merry winter to you all - is this country for real?

Row as Christmas lights renamed

Christmas lights have been renamed in Lambeth
A decision to call Christmas lights "Winter Lights" in south London has been condemned as showing a "total lack of respect" for Christians.
Advertisements for the switch-on of the lights in multi-cultural Lambeth have renamed them, apparently for fear of offending other faiths.

Tory councillor Bernard Gentry told the BBC: "Christmas appears to have been cancelled in our borough".

A spokesman said it was an error by a junior official and not council policy.

In three of Lambeth's main town centres, the lights were referred to as "Winter Lights", while in a fourth they were called "Celebrity Lights".

The idea that, in some way, the religious festival of Christmas is offensive to others is just daft

Bernard Gentry
Lambeth councillor

The council spokeswoman said an official was concerned about people from other religions.

She said: "It was a junior-level decision and it happened to go into print which was an error basically.

"I think it was certainly not a council policy that we should call the lights winter lights."

But it has led to a series of headlines such as "Christmas is banned" and "The PC [politically correct] lights show" and led some members of other faiths to call it "ridiculous".

And Mr Gentry, a Conservative member of the joint Lib Dem-Tory controlled borough, told the BBC it went against efforts to promote respect for all faiths.

"It just seems totally against everything that we as members of the council have said, when officers try to airbrush out one of the main festivals of what is still the biggest religion in Lambeth."

"The idea that, in some way, the religious festival of Christmas is offensive to others is just daft - I have never heard a single person who's said that."

The advert appeared in Lambeth Life - a newspaper distributed by the council - and on posters.

Many disabled or partially disabled people and even those who have a temporary disablememt, are often told to use a health club/gym as part of their physiotherapy.

The problem is, we are in a possition in this country, that no one can say anything about anything, without people shouting discrimination.

We should be alowed to talk about these things without people getting so emotional.

But thats said, I suspect there are moments Paul when those spaces are all used, especially if the sports centre has a swiming pool. Then they would need them and should be there for when that happens.

Anyway all that football training should make you fit enough to walk the few extra yards :)
