Question: traffic forwarding

Hi everyone. Quick question, I've paid for a domain name so that I can remove my wordpress blog .wordpress from the URL. I've set up the new domain name to forward traffic to the wordpress account. Firstly, is this the best way to do it?
Secondly, when some users go to the new domain URL, they get warned that the page is forwarding them on to a new page. any way around this?

I am assuming it is a wordpress.com account?

To avoid the warning I would set-up a .htaccess file in the root of the new domain and put the redirect there.

Is it the best way to do it? Probably not :) I would consider getting your own hosting to do away with the wordpress account completely.
