I had this before with natwest.

It actually takes 6-10+ weeks for them to send a US cheque over and get it cleared.

Usualy when you submit checks provided you signed an indemnity form they will clear the checks in a week then send them off.

BUT there is a limit if you pay in checks over a certain amount they have to send them the slow way.

With natwest I believe the limit was the currency equivilant for £5000 or more.

Natwest as with almost everyother fucking bank in this country is owned by bank of scotland anyway so they aint gonna be much different.

move to Nationwide - I have no issues with them and set the account up online and never had to see anyone, in fact even set the account up from Spain and they sent all the paperwork to me

I also use Barclays and also don't have problems with clearing times

if its us dollars, set yourself a citibank account up, works great from all experiences we have had with them

HSBC fiver per cheque, usually cleared (well, honoured) in 2 days, its all i use them for as my main account is at abbey, they charge a tenner and takes a week to clear, also with HSBC none of that form filling bollocks either, just a payin slip :)

Seems to me a lot here are living check to check. Money goes in and take as long as it takes, so you're living off what went in last month or the month before last.

Try shooting a set in January, getting it printed the following January, the check arrive two months later and the bank takes three months to clear it. So what we're paying the bills with sets we shot eighteen months ago.

Better than shooting a set and a video for peanuts paid tomorrow.

Just one thing screws the above system. When your wife is laid up in hospital and you can't get access to your money. Now can you see why I was begging for money? :noway2:

Citibank USD Current account with debit card.

20 Days to clear USD cheques, awesome service and you can access your account online.
Once my cheques clear i spend the cash in USD to avoid any charges.
ie, buy domain names etc. or just save it till i need it.

I get checks from C4S and my luverly bank just went and lost the last one (lost in interbank transit). That was 4 weeks ago and now, after signing a few forms, I may have to wait another 4 - 6 weeks for it to clear. What a load of old wank..

I'm changing all my payments to wire, I cant be asses with the hassel of checks
