Got to say I wouldn't be best chuffed if I was Russia, but in fairness they have only just stopped occupying Poland and it's other neighbours

have a number to play with: a small piece of land like Austria had 10 nuclear warheads pointed at it during the cold war. 10. and that was only the US ones. add another 10+ from the then USSR. and all just in case the other side wanted to use that area to move troops through it.

to be honest russia likes to talk itself up. its sort of traditional.

to be honest i do wonder if what they say on the news has not been agreed in the background. ie somone says look, bush will be gone in a few months time, so we will make out that we have a big nuke thing, and you russians do lots of threats, then once bush is gone the new president will scrap the idea and russia does some pice thingy. this way both countries look tough and powerfull and keep face, and scare the pants off other little countries who may try to be making threats.

lets face it, bush is gone soon and this new chap looks like he aint a war type.

plus russa has started to get its economy back so i cannot see it will want any real war.

in fact i would also suspect thast most of the nukes russia and the usa have are fakes. after all its cheaper to have fakes, as the thing about nukes is they are a threat. so as long as you make people think you have them, it makes no ods if they work or not.

but for years russa and the usa have played these silly games. its a bit like the ufo's, both have leaked out that they have them, just to pretend they have technology not of this world.

in truth i would suspect that russa can do far more harm by simply cutting off gas suplies.

what russai is doing is establishing itself again in the word saying russia is back and we are as big and important as the usa.

also to be honest there should not be usa defeses in poland or any eu contry, inc the uk now. it is wrong that america acts as if its the police of the world.

to be honest its also not a good time, after all we (usa and uk) went into Irak and afganastan pointlessly. by doing so undermining any activity. ie we can hardly now tell other countriess off for going to war.

we now have an afganistan situation that we cannot ever win.

its unlikly russa would risk such a panick.

plus the problem with nukes is delivery of them. to shoot one long rage you realy need gps, which the usa would shut off. so if you fly over you then have the problem with being shot down, or you deliver from a sub. the advatage of a plane is you can get close and leave, the other methods you have the risk of modern rockets taking the nukes out before they hit the target.

nukes are realy a 60's bomb. those days it was almost imposible to stop one, now its far easer.

plus nuks can easily missfire, there is no gurantee they will expode on target.

these days there a lot of mordern weapons that can do jvast damage, but without the nukes afteraffects (radiation).

even if russia used a nuke and even if that was the only one and even if the worlds economys were not affected, russa would be an outcast. its one thing to talk it up, but they weould do so much harm to themselves.

plus i do not think russa would have any friends on there side if it went to full war.

in fact i do not think the russain army is yet up to speck to be able to hadlel a war. they still seem to be using old stuff. its not that long ago that they had that sub sink as it was so old and junk. in fact i think those taks they used to invade georgia were on the last legs too.

nah, you get cheap loans for building a house anyway. during the high times of the cold war it was the law to have a shelter fitted into every new house built, else you wouldn't get permission to build it at all. so buying a house from that era gets you a perfect wine cellar.

despite the knowledge that you cannot quite outlive a nuclear winter in them, building/housing societies still put shelters in every new house they erect. waste of money, but keeps an industry alive.
