12 Midnight the licensing laws change, can get a beer all night some might even be 24 hour :cheers2:

Seriously though who really thinks it will make a big difference to violence and all that shit?

I actually think it will make it less. Now we have clubs turning out at 2-3am with a couple of thousand people leaving each club.
Now they will leave in stages, the light weights will leave early, the mid weights will stay a bit longer anf the proper drinkers will stay a bit longer. So instead of, lets say two clubs within a half mile radius of each other, all the people spilling out at the same time they will be coming out in smaller numbers. Less arguments for cabs, less arguments for kebabs, just less arguments all round.

Do you remember when they knocked that stupid idea of the pubs closing at 3: 00pm and reopening at 5: 30pm?

They said it would lead to binge drinking and an increase in violence, in fact all the things thay say will happen now.

I never meterialised then and it won't now.

Right so who wants to meet for a beer at about 2: 00am :cheers2:

I think short term it will be worse, untill we get more continental, but long term its gotta be better, hopefully the country will get a more sensible attitude towards alcahol

Thinks might be worse for a little while as people take time to adjust to having longer hours. After a while though people will just go out later as they do on the continent. As far as I'm concerned it'll be a good thing, places will be less crowded and drinking won't be as rushed.

Definatly a good thing for the 24hr stores, now no more going to partys that run dry by 1am. You can now pop out and restock.

Saw a piece on the cbc last night about this, they portrayed it very negatively. Didn't mention one good fact.

just means all the fighting and violence will be around 3-4am instead of 11pm-12am

Alcohol = violence to a lot of people unfortunatly

and i include myself in that. I simply cannot drink beer as it makes me aggressive..
I once saw the entire Scottish Rugby team in a London lapdancing club wearing Kilts and the Budwieser and my having lived in Scotland and had years of abuse made me have a go at the lot of them.......(wondering why they were wearing skirts was my main point of attack) They were laughing as well. bloody sweatys
Thankfully the missus was sober and able to persuade them i was harmless.. ....And i probably was against them...would have got a few punches in first though...

Actually i didnt fancy their chances against her she would have devourered the lot

So no beer for me now

I think its about time really as i understand it places still have to get a license to serve later so if theres trouble around a place you'd assume the license would be limited.

A local club I go to sometimes is open till 4-6am maybe but they have to stop serving at 2am which sucks now I hope it means they can go on serving as long as the music plays.

Also if places don't all kick out at the same time it should means less people on the streets at any one time and less trouble ?

I think the trouble comes because every pub empties between 11-12 and all the clubs at 1-2 so everyone piles out onto the streets with nothing to do

Shouldn't make any difference - The heavy drinkers will not notice the difference because they are usually already pissed and out of it long before 11 - Other will be drinking normally, but at times to suit themselves - Most people can't afford to piss it up so they will still spend the same amount, only over a different time constraint - The change should suit landlords better.

Exactly, makes me laufgh when people say, people will be able to drink longer. people have always been able to drink longer, just not in pubs.

Its the same people who are complaing as those who complained when the pubs went to all day drinking. People were banging on then about people drinking all day. It never happened.
