View Full Version : Why is a post called a post?
When you post, it says thanks for posting etc... You will now get taken to your post... etc
Why is it 'post' though? I mean it could be 'message' it could be 'comment' it could be 'contribution'... the list goes on, but its none of those...
its a 'POST'...
Why?

I presume its lingo from hard copy.
ie, you post a letter.
in the same way you post your letter to the site (or message).
with email you 'send;' as you send a letter. and when you get an email you say its been delivered.
we 'post' to message boards as before htlm people used that other thing (i forget) and i presume 'posted' messages.
OK, so in other words, you dont know... :P Anyone else?
In other words I couldnt give a shit... i've got better things to think about...
