View Full Version : adding youtube vids to wordpress blogs
Ive been adding more and more videos to youtube :noway2: and I can add them easily to my b/o blogs but when I add them to wordpess blogs, it throws the whole page all over the place.
Ive adjusted the size but it doesnt fix it. What am I doing wrong? Apart from asking a sensible question on a Friday afternoon
Dunno, I've been having trouble with wordpress this week, I have discovered that it hates referring links so if I link a pic through to a CCBill site it takes me (well the surfer obviously) off to some bolloky page about terms & conditions, likewise a link within the body of the blog does the same.
Bizarrely a link on the actual "Blogroll" section on the right hand side does allow a CCBill refering link & thus will go through to the tour etc.
I have concluded that Wordpress is wank !
(Should add that I have Wordpress hosting my blog, it's not on my host & I don't know if this makes any difference)

Just to add, I can't get a picture in the centre or to the right of the page (Fuck knows on vids) depite ticking the centre box it just decides to go to the left, every single time.
I re-affirm my thoughts prior, Wordpress is wank !

Yes it does, why dont you you host it, I offered to sort it for you or host if for you for when you was boring me about it before. Stop being a spaz :geek:

Yes, hosted wordpress is different from a real installation of it.

Yes, clearly. All those people will centred pictures and embedded clips are clearly master haxx0rs and it's not that you are just a big spazzy.
;)
More importantly:
Hi, I have an adult blog, hosted at WP (sorry, I won’t spam you with the link ) It was quickly discovered by the community and reported, you know, when you’re logged in, there is a WP toolbar at the top and it has the option "Report as mature".
The result is that the blog now has lower visibility, or rather complete invisibility, the pings don’t work, it’s not listed anywhere on wordpress.com and all in all is pretty hidden.
WP FAQ item on the subject:
faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/07/ive-seen-a-blog-with-unsuitable-content-how-do-i-tell-you/
But you’re right, TOS don’t say anything about adult blogs, so they are allowed.

Ahhh, I see (Thanks Damian too)
I'm currently toying with the idea of stopping the fact that my blog is a stand alone sit & incorporating it into my main site (See sig) but still trying to work out whether it's a better option.... leave it standalone ? get it onto my main site ?
Any Guru's with an opinion on this I would appriciate hearing them.
Ta,

First thing I would have suggested would have been the size but obviously not that.
Try switching off visual rich editor first. Or maybe try and put divs around the code.

Huh ?
Ok, I have never marked mine as "Mature", do I need to or just leave as is ? or are you saying I will ultimately get reported or, what the fuck are you saying with your anicdote ?

Shall I draw you a FUCKING picture? ;)
I am saying, if someone sees it and reports it, your blog may vanish from searches as happened to the chap I linked to.
I wouldn't ever rely on free hosting for anything important to my business.

No need to swear but a picture would be nice.

Right, got it (I'm tired today, have been for weeks, been busy with non adult stuff, real busy, so do forgive my slightly slower speed)
Hmm, great, more dilemas, so now it looks like I best get this blog / host situ sorted, that said Im not getting massive hits to it just yet so I dont feel the need to put this top of the list.
Just going back a bit (See my post above) should I leave my blog as a standalone site ? (On new wizzy hosting shit) or incorporate into my existing site ?
(or just go back cap in hand to JT & take him up on his generous offer?)
Ta again,
:)

Most of the people here must have seen enough "fucking pictures" to last a lifetime...

lol, very good.
Was going to post something but I really don't know anything about posting Youtube videos... so I'm going to try the most simple approach.
Could it be possible that this video is somehow bigger than the post area it should fit into, so it pops out or messed everything up? So I guess the question is, is it only with one blog/theme or with others too?
Have you got a sample JT, cos all of your blogs look fucked in IE, well ones I have seen, so maybe now you added the youtube vids its corrected it in IE and fucked it in FF.
I have youtube clips on WP and all is fine, actually I'll have a look before hitting the "Post Quick Reply" button... nope youtube vids are fine in both IE and FF
Or maybe try and put divs around the code.
whats putting DVTimes and SmithsMedia each side of the code gonna do?

Could post link to one of the broken WP blogs, might just need the embed tag tinkered with.

Yes, WP has been doing this since they changed uploading images to the awful flash loader bollocks. After having ticked the radio button for your image to be centered, it doesn't do it (puts it on the left in the post).
Your image may already look centered in compose mode, but on preview it won't look as it should. You can rectify this in the post edit area after the image has been uploaded. Click on image so it is selected, then click on centered text icon in the tool bar thingy. That works for me.

Thanks for the tip Smooch.
