Just got council tax bill...
letter inside says "This is a new bill due to capping amendment" letter goes on to say about how the nasty goverment is capping the council and services will drop ...blah....blah....blah...
Then you read the bill and yes the small village we live in has had a 1% drop....but we also pay a portion of our bill to TWO Cambridgeshire councils and the police authority ( Thats an Oxymoron if there ever was) and Fire authority
so one out of 5 parts of our bill have dropped by 1%
the other four have risen, ONE BY a staggering 32.8% the others by 4.9% each
the one that rose 32% we didnt pay two years ago and was only introduced into our bill last year which was a 100% increase last year
I think its because our district council is probably twinned with a nice holiday spot in the Seychelles, Monte Carlo and a nice Swiss town where the councillers bank

I'm hoping ours doesn't rise to over £200 per month next year.
Binman still won't take our old rotary washing line away (despite me putting it every week :)) and our only "bulk" waste disposal service ends next month.
Nearest tip is 10 miles away... but they don't accept wood! wtf?

They dont accept wood?????
here, being 'Cambridge' and ia bit up themselves they tell us here they have a great recycling system..we have 3 bins but i still go with most stuff to the recycling plant as they have a bin for cardboard and rotton fruit etc together???
but you cant put newspaper in... they have a box for bottles ad jars but dont accept them all...and if you put something in the wrong bin they throw it on the side of the road and i have NEVER seen a policeman in the village or on the street in Cambridge for that matter..
Don't mention council tax...

Our binmen refuse to take any bins that the top is up they take out the bags and dump them on the floor. When it would be much easier just to wheel the bin to the cart. Probally cos we dont tip them at xmas.

They take everything that we put out here but the idle fuckers wont walk up the driveway to get it themselves despite us buying them a nice shiny new lorry every year with our council tax bill...
Sorting the rubbish for collection has become like a mission fit for the fucking krypton factor ... one box & two wheelie bins ... wouldnt be so bad if the box for the empty wine bottles and beer cans wasnt so small ... heh

Yes I suppose we shouldnt complain as you pay nearly twice as much in Scotland
We lived in a 7 bed fuck off place a few years ago up there and the council tax bill was crippling at nearly £3k and we had no street lights, a 300 yard walk to carry rubbish bags, it was a private road for 3 miles to the house which the council didnt look after. and did we ever see a policeman....as for the fire service if we did have a fire the house and forest it was set in would have burnt down before they got there...
And you had to get up at 7am to walk the 300 yards with black bags coz if you put them out the night before all manner of wildlife would desend and spead it all over the road
One wheelie bin collected every two weeks. Which means in the height of summer our pretty corner of Worcestershire smells like nothing on earth. Two recycling boxes, one for paper and card and one for plastic and metal, or is that papers and metal or plastic and card.
Oh, and can we make sure we wash up cans and remove their labels before we put them out. And no more than three bin bags in the wheelie bin. And the binmen keep throwing our wheelie bin in the cart so we have to reorder them. That's the fifth one this year we lost this week.
