Finally hoping to get dedicated server at end of month!

least I can now do submits every day, galleries and free sites finally move my sites along in this biz without fear of sites getting suspended! anyone got any " must do's" when you are upgrading from virtual to dedicated?

Yeah probably, cos what else can you say to a spammer who doesn't like this place cos he was told he has to abide by the rules of the forum and calling the mods, I didn't know there were any, silly, yet comes back when he hears the word "squirt".

Anyway smoothballs, boardtracker does work but you could end up looking like a mug for using it.

all part of the pecking order/post count .. I've been in the adult film industry since 1996 actually own Canada's largest adult content provider ...a great exclusive site filled aff program ...so I am not some spammer or surfer .. just to damn busy to hit all the forums ... on that note .. I do only hit 2 or 3, this one being one of them .. because I like the feel of this one ..filled with assholes so I feel i fit in .. ;)

Must do's? These are general tips for any kind of upgrade really but they are relevant to your situation as well.

Take a backup of EVERYTHING (including scripts and databases if there are any) - then just to be safe take another one and put it somwhere different to the first one!

Dont do the changeover too quickly - check everything (especially scripts) are working on the new server. Get other people to check them too to make sure its not something obvious you are missing. I know its tempting to switch over to your all singing all dancing new box in record time but you could come to regret it.

Do a straight migration and get your "old" site working before trying anything new and wizzy - that way if something goes wrong you know its not your site or code thats the problem.

Dont delete your old virtual account for another month just in case something goes wrong so you can fall back on the virtual account.

Dont trust anyone else to do the basics like backups - even if they say they are doing it, take one yourself just in case!
