The outgoing Italian government put all the country's citizens at risk of identity theft and physical attacks when it published the names, incomes and amounts of tax paid by every citizen.

The publication occurred on Italy's tax service website and was done by Romano Prodi's outgoing government just days before leaving office. The information was available for 24 hours but was taken down after outraged criticism and an official complaint from Italy's privacy watchdog.

Bah! They've done that in Norway for years now. Always funny to see how much your neighbour/co-worker/etc earns.
