View Full Version : Any WorPress Experts in The House
If you really know WP then let me know, I have a problem and I'll be jiggered if I know what is causinbg it. It might be an easy fix within WP or it might be something stuffed up after a server move.
So who really knows it?

I said in the house not on the net.
Its like when someone collapses in a theatre and they say is there a doctor in the house. If you stood up and said "have you tried a hospital" the would think what a wanker you are, so...

What is it? I'm not an expert but I might be able to fart around for a bit and waste your time whilst making you think I'm helping you

When I write a new post and "publish" it the post ends up at the end. So if I post today, the date will show as April 21st but it will be on page 2 and the top post of page 1 is ie: March 28th.
I recently moved server and have spoken to supposrt and they said they can't see anything on the server that could cause it.

I thought all the experts would reply, but here's my bit - are you sure you have not got the other post as March 2007 or something - I've done that and wondered where my posts have gone...
Is it affecting all posts? There is a bug in MySQL version 5.0.51 that can make posts appear in reverse order? What version of MySQL is the new host running?

OK I think this may resolve your issue
Admin > Options > Reading
then check Front page displays: Your latest posts

Are they using the same template/theme or this one using a different one? A few are designed to show posts in reverse order?
Also are they all the same version of wordpress?

I have tried changing themes and they all are doing it, I even tried uploading again in case the theme got corrupted in the move.

Can't think of anything else off hand. Seems a bit odd if it's just the one blog, although I still think MYSQL bug could be the prime suspect.
send me log in, bet I can fix it, if not I'll have a tinker anyway :character0072:

I know this sounds silly, but you have put 2008 as the year not 2007 ?
After looking around it looks like it maybe a server problem

All the help I can give really .. sorry.
You could try exporting the posts using RSS, then flushing the database, installing new one and importing the posts back using RSS feed. It is almost like restarting your computer but it tends to work with such things too.
More exciting way would be to compare all the mysql tables of working and non working blog, thats really exciting and time wasting activity :)
If other blogs aren't affected then the cause is in MySQL tables or database the blog is using.
just my 2 cents
I take it you have done the usual stuff first, calling it a cunt, a fucking poxy piece of shit etc? Oh don't forget the old faithful; 'come on you fucking thing, WORK!'.

I would be interested in seeing his method of taking a chainsaw to a script....
OK the problem must be either something on the server or a MYsql problem. The blogs are all created by a script, non-WP, and all use the same DB. I will put a ticket in and tell support to try what jel suggests.

If you have PHPMyAdmin then you can manually drop the tables that this blog uses and then replace them with new ones... first obviously backup all your posts, but I suppose it is easier when you get some support guy on it.

This is affecting a couple of hundred blogs so I don't fancy doing it all :geezer:
I spoke to tech again and they have now said its a MYsql bug, so I'll have to wait for them to upgrade :geezer:
