Not bad.

Ok, a few people pay to join, but I bet a lot do not.

But I guess its good for advertising.

I just read the article and it says

According to press reports, ITV is examining the company's books and could sign a deal as early as this week with an estimated price tag of £120m.

and then

If an agreement is signed, husband and wife founders Steve and Julie Pankhurst could net about £30m between them

So who gets the other £90m?

The advertising revenue from FR would be absolutely immense.

I am no accountant (according to our accountants that is :) ) but a net of 30m from a gross of 120m on the sale would suggest that there are other investors in there and they would possibly be getting so much stock too as part of the deal?

Yeah, the original site was started with another guy and as it grew they took on extra staff, many of whom are now shareholders.

I always thought they owned it outright by a husband and wife. Guess they let alot of shares go on the way

I would have though the set-up costs involved due to its fast growth would have meant that a lot of venture capitol was needed.

I am thinking that its a very clever idea of ITV. As tv ratings drop and more stations come on air, this is a great way to get a lot of advertising space. I would not be surprised if they do not make the site 100%free just to get more people on it.

I wonder if there are any other BIG UK sites worth getting?

thats a cool
link

it has a few approved schools missing, that I used to go to.

But I cannot see many wanting to who went want to join. Many I know are now TV stars and rugby players and so on.

And before you ask, no I was not a bad boy, my dad was the headmaster, so i used to stay at them. And to be honest, most of the lads were great. Often just had crap parents.

And maybe the two who started Friends Reunited should give the £30m to the families the site wrecked
