Just watching, well it's on in the background, about WW1. There's only 27 survivors still alive. That is out of 5.5 million, amazing. They are all over 100 years old and they are very good for their ages.

They remember it like it was last week, they did asn saw so much.
Then some soppy little bastard with a hoody will come along and rob them for a fiver.

Oh no, am I turning into DVT? :lmao2:

Sorry guys, cant make myself make light about what they went through..... WW1 definately the worst we've been involved in ever..... made even worse by our inept generals........Just imagine, if was happening now, most of us would be drafted.... what amazed me was they had no animosity to the other soilders they were fighting.... despite them using machine guns so effectively to which we had no answer...... Feel guilty now, I only put a quid in the poppy appeal...

What makes it worse is that in less then 100 years and two mass sluahgters of your British lives we are now doing a good job at doing what these lads died for - destroying Britain with our politics and inability to say 'No'.

On the subject of the the poppy appeal I saw a guy with a load of medals sat behind a a check out, as the kid was with me thought this would make a good chance to hear from a war hero.

I asked the guy where he was based and he said all over, he mentioned so odd sounding name so I said africa? He replied no, don't be silly I never left home I was in pocklington!

WWI
was just a waste of human life.
greed and power cost millions of lives.
its brings a tear to my eye, to think what those poor men and boys went though.
may we never forget them!

I was going to say ain't all wars?, but then WW2 had to be faught, pretty much all others are just a waste of life.

Actually as I'm thinking about it, war being a waste of lives depends on your perpective.

I guess if you look at it in a different way, wow gave us a huge push in technology as Germany, UK, America ran around mad to produce new technology, such as computers, TV, radar, and so on.

I wonder if it was not for wow would we have such things now.

Even such as women working changed things. Giving women chance to prove themselves.

It might have changed since we passed through there but I would'nt be in a hurry to find out. We went there to view a house once and the people all had big foreheads and dribbled.
