View Full Version : What's the hardest thing about this business?

Apart from my cock that is.
I reckon getting started is the hardest part. When you start out you have no idea what sells and what doesn't, you have no traffic and nothing to go on. Once you've got things moving it gets easier. Although, I do find that finding good traffic trades is quite hard, I have trades with a few other webmasters which work really well but I need more and it takes a lot of time finding good ones.
I guess when you have hundreds or even thousands of sites the hard part is keeping track of it all and keeping things under control?

just as you described it really...or you think you hit on something that is selling well then signups dry up for a week or two!

To be honest, the hardest part for me is keeping a good disciplined routine. It may sound great working from home and doing what you like when you like, but you MUST have good discipline!

i find the hardest thing for me is getting decent traffic levels to my sites, and after that, its a combination of being easily distracted, having too many projects on the go (and never finishing them) and doing too many things half assed instead of a few small things well.

It 'cost' us $100 to start up and have 'moved' with the times, listened to what surfers/members wanted and grown our business along the way.
Yes we do treat it as a business as it is what pays our bills.

Currently I only have the one adult site so getting traffic is the hardest part for me.
I'm thinking about demanding a backlink for every gallery that I load but I'm not sure if that'll put people off...
There isnt anything hard about it, everything is pretty simple if you want to do the work, you have to treat it like any other business and its a piece of piss.

I'm willing to do the leg work for AddAnImage.com so what's the cheapest and most effective way to get traffic? :)
...I know that's the $64,000,000 question! ;)

I can definatly help you improve getting traffic to that site and will.
But firstly I need to know what you are doing with it. Its not really clear what it is and what you are trying to do with it

thinking you have the brains to do it, maybe slapping NATS onto your setup so you end up writing cheques by hand and then being left with too little money to actually pay all your affilaites on time.

TBH that's the first thing I would do. Otherwise you're just giving away a free backlink.

I was interested in a range of views, so one from your perspective would be most interesting. Probably.

For me, finding paid help either full time, or on short term contracts who can do a half decent job. To many people set themselves up offering a service who are clueless and cant do anywhere near an exceptable job

Sounds like the Apprentice :)
You should contact the jobcentre and see if you can get a YTS or whatever they do these days.
Plenty of graduates on the dole and the govt would pay their lunch allowance.

We found the hardest thing was being forced to take the site down, just when we had the time and had aquired the knowledge to make it work. :(

I thought it was simply a business descision to ditch the site.

Nope my Ex Hubby showing my sons the site forced us. It then fell to us to find an alternative route. Perhaps Karma helped along the way, but our new line has been a good commercial success.
I won't lie we do miss the fun of the old site...
