ok GFY is the biggest adult webmaster forum. In fact add all the other forums together and the dont even compare. I guess they are about to reach their 8 millionth post. But fuck the quality of posts is worse than ever.
is it getting worse or am I getting less tolerant?

People post or read boards for different reasons. Socialising, gaining knowledge and doing business. It's a delicate mix that IMO GFY has right but has been better.
You need the social elemant otherwise it gets boring. You need the newbies who want to learn as these guys bring the advertisers the reason the board exists. And you need the oldies to give out the info, to bring in the newbies.
A thread/spam on GFY brings more business than any other board, so it's still the best place to do business. Lensman allows spam and it works, other boards would have to limit it to keep the board top heavy with spam.
The truth is simple, the board exists because of the advertising, advertisers are looking to get the newbie, the newbie is looking to get educated. Reduce it all to social and the board dies.

GFY is just about business but you need to be pretty thick skinned and not take things too seriously.

Nothing compares to GFY in volume. If you want to get your program or product out there then GFY is the place to go.
Its always been full of wankers, Ive managed to ignore it up till now, just so I could get my program out there over the last few years. But now it just seems to iritate me so much. Im not sure if Im less tolorant or if there is more to try and tolorate

Yes its changed a lot. We have had several thousand affiliates sign up to us from GFY over the years and a huge number of those have and still send us sales which adds up to a *lot* of money but the thing is now that the line between surfer and affiliate is a lot more blurred. It’s just impossible to start out now and make “proper” money as an affiliate and as this has become harder then the intelligence level of the place has dropped in direct relation to that.
If you are a program owner, designer or content producer and you are too thin skinned or incapable of wading through the crap then you are just in the wrong business. If you are just an affiliate then the place is a complete waste of time.

yeah i know, although i dont find it that helpful to post there either. I've made about 50 posts i think since i've been a member. Perhaps when our program launches from its beta test i'll post there more often

Don't be put off by the athmosphere.
When we do the 20 sets offer for $25 more buyers come from GFY than anywhere else. In fact take out Netpond and it's more there than the rest of the boards put together. A lot of the buyers I do not even know, but they come from GFY. Lurkers.

I launched SGD there and the response was amazing ...
As everyone says.. If you can stand the heat.. You can stay in the fire there :) I've been mega flamed by a lot of the affiliates who use GFY for how I run my biz and I just laugh. Paul.. If you remember one guy said to me after I had a go at you "Don't you know who Paul Markham is" ? I could only reply that I did ... LOL. I think that was in the long thread a guy who I rejected started, because I refused him as an affiliate cos I didn't like his site... LOL.
It is mainly crap, but now and again.. There is the odd thread for us here in the UK..
At least there, there are affiliates and sponsors from around the world, where as at NetPlonk.. It's only NetPlonk affiliates unless you have the balls to post your own projects..

Spoke to him by email the other day. He,s going great guns with his content business from what Ive heard.
Pretty much everything else is not of to much interest to him. Apart from Richards Realm.
I wanted to buy that forum of him before it died completely. But he wasnt interested in selling it. Thats why we made b&B

Best time to post on that board is when you are under the the influence...
I haven't bothered looking at it for a while, but, my bad for not doing so - Just a few posts a day tend to be quite profitable, especially if you target the threads that are getting good page views.

I just heard that GFY has been shut down due to a hacker having intercepted full password files from several large sites, one of ours included. Apparently the guy has been demanding money from webmasters or he'll release the passwords. All sounds a bit fishy to me though.

I have a client who used to work for Lensman, some shit head hit him on ICQ, by the end of the conversation this asshole said basically, "if I knew you were a fucking &%#@* I would have never done any biz with you". My client is black so you can just imagin what was said.....

It cant all be social and those boards that are really you shouldnt use the word social about them as they can be the most antisocial fuckers going
Its a difficult situation as there are so many boards to choose from you cant be "social" on them all and you certainly cant post about your stuff on them all either

as Al Pacino said..."Its strictly business not personal" all i want is to make our site succesfull if people want to take a swing bring it on....I dont take this personally but i do know that i will NEVER stop learning
So as soon as we as a site are ready for GFY we will post away...will let you know when our legs get broken :onguard:
