View Full Version : Is Every Fuck'in Domain Taken These Days ?
I'm sitting here & whacking in potential new domain names into "Go Daddy" & every single time I'm getting That Domain Is Already Taken
I wonder if Im going about this the wrong way but I'm just wanting a decent name for my new project (Would rather not say what the site theme is though)
Any alternative approaches I could try folks ?
Are hyphens SO bad ? that would probably open up a few more options.
This is frigg'in frustrating !
:(
1. Avoid Go Daddy like the plague
2. try http://www.domainsbot.com/
i prefer www.domainsbot.com for domain hunting, personal flavour, obviously.
godaddy OTOH seems to have a rep for snatching domains people look for through their service.

I'm only on GD as it was the first site name that I thought of where I could sit & drive myself mental in testing names, I won't actully buy through them just using their facility but thanks anyway.

the other night i was regging up a few new domains. i think it was either the tits niche or maybe matures, one of the over saturated ones anyway. in frustration i mashed the keyboard - something like ejkhk2gjh3g1j2h3g123 - hit return and i shit you not, the domain was registered.
at which point i sat back, laughed to myself and then went to watch tv in protest.

Typeins have long gone except for any newsworthy piece that has a few days legs in it.
However - there are billions of unregistered domain names that are brilliant for keywords -
Words at the beginning and end of keyword domains do not stop that domain being good for search engines - (I have many with 4u at the end and all get the relevant keyword se traffic I was after)
Use adjectives and adverbs with your target keywords -

One thing I've noticed happening, is that if surfers have visited your site once and they want to find it again, if they can vaguely remember the name they will type that into Google instead of the address bar. So just having a domain name consisting of keywords that people can remember is probably the next best thing to having a type-in name.

Totally agree - "Melanies"
I would just use whois on a server I don't trust any domain server to whois a domain
you will probably find a free one, come back to register it and it will be taken
any domain that is decent or seems like it may have traffic is probably gone
