matter of fatly, there would be only 3 gaps between 4 ships, which would make it 9 all in all.

of course there'd be 2 spaces between 3 space stations.... unless they are in a circle and allow 3 spaces again. which, come to think of it, would also work for 4 ships in a circle making 4 spaces. AAARRGGHHH!!
