That's bullshit. Ebay are just abusing their position as market leader in online auctions to force people to use PayPal. Surely this is unfair practice?

I think it makes perfect sense, PP account means ebay can KYC their end users this will help prevent fraud and also give them tighter controls over who can who can not sell on their site.
Lets face it if you own the biggest brand on the web and have prob the most well known and trusted P2P processing solution then you dont need 3rd parties involoved with your transactions.
Im all for it, they are closing down adult accounts and if they lost their ebay business this firm could be in shit, unless ebay buy Nochex which has nearly happened before :)
Why are you so anti-Nochex Paul? I know you worked for them once so I obviously missed some juicy gossip along the way.... fess up ;)

Way too much Rosie ;)
I will say this though - if nochex are forced off ebay it will be good for them in the long term as I think NC are too reliant on ebay.
However ebay have shown a 'keen' interest in buying Nochex in the past......

It's obviously a good move from Ebay's point of view cos they're earning from both listings and payments, but it's not such a good deal for the consumer. It's like Tesco saying "you can only pay for your food with a Tesco credit card".
Nochex pissed me off for having some stupid limit on the amount of money you can send when you first join 'em - wanted to send someone £750 and the best I could do was about £300

I read the new T&C's Nochex will not be banned, they meet the basic requirements. It seems to me this change of policy is to stop newbies tapping into their traffic or to rip their users off.
what utter nonsense. how could ebay ban any payment processor? they could disallow the use of the name and links to them, but what buyer and seller agree on is totally up to them. i hardly ever pay any other way than COD, although hardly any seller lists that as option. mail them in advance, if they are ok with it, fine, if not, find another seller who does.

If you think about this you will see its not so difficult,

what isn't, Paul? as i already higlighted, you may have missed that part of course, they can disallow mentioning other processors on their sites or even in mails sent through their interface. they can block links as well. so what? once you contact the seller, they have your email address, if they are willing to accept other forms of payment, they can avoid mailing you through the ebay system and therefor avoid having the alternatives filtered out.
so what is not difficult, Paul? agreeing on another processor, yes, i agree, in fact that's what i said right from the start.
the sheep of course will not have the extra brain cell or two to think of agreements between business partners that don't necessarily use ebay's preferred methods, so what? i don't do business with rubble anyway.
fact remains, they can not stop me from using alternative payment methods. they can make it harder, cos the lemmings will do as they are told, no matter whether it makes sense or not. that's a fact you are confronted with every day though.

They can just lock everything down, if you list you have to agree to acept all your payments via paypal.
It will happen if you owned ebay and did not want this to happen or be driving your business down this road then you should be out of a job.
ebay are not going to give up their traffic lightly esp the traffic which is doing transactions, its like me taking someone all the way to my join page then saying,
'hang on HF put him through your console, keep the money and I will give him a user pw anyhow'
Lets say Nochex, Fast Pay and all the others equate to 1000 tranx per hour, If they are loosing $1 a tranx thats just under $9m PA being 'shaved' off their traffic, its just too much revenue to let slip out of your business unoticed or to be ignored.

you are predicting paypal will accept users from all the blacklisted countries then? i did sell shit to Russia, no paypal there, last time i looked.
