I have just tried a system restore and it will not complete. I had this with my old machine but didn't bother cos it was 3 years old and had a lot of stuff on it. Anyway I ended up have to format it anyway so got the restore function back. This is my new machine and I've only had it since Tuesday but its doing the same thing. I presume something has fucked the restore thingy but does anyone know how to fix it?

I just put an AOL disk in to try and do this wireless thing, but gave up again. I'm wondering if there is something in that that is disabling the restore function, any ideas?

I wouldn't trust any AOL software, especially with Vista. It completely fucked one of my machines years ago.

You using AOL ActiveShield as that fucks Vista royally?

I actually didn't have any AOL on this machine, until I though I would try this wireless bollocks. Thats why I thought I would do a system restore to get rid of the shit.
I also don't have Vista. I got it loaded with XP ;)

I mkight just go for a complete reinstall format type situation. If I don't so it now I will put it off and put it off then I will have so much stuff on here I won't want to.

JT might be able to let you have a 2nd hand HDD if that would help at all

Try to run System Restore in safe mode (think you have XP), usually helps it to not get 'stuck'.
