Gordon Tshun Chin is the first man in Canadian history to be convicted of importing child pornography – in cartoon form. (http://www.ynot.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=news_article&sid=9883&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0)

and fucking rightly so. CP is CP is CP, no matter what means of media you use to show it.

what about hentai teens, fuck could be hard to decide what cartoon character is over 16 and what cartoon character is under 16. What about the simpsons porn and other cartoon characters. Who decides how old they are? The judge?

So if you have Lisa simpson in a funny cartoon blowing Mr Burns, are you now guilty of possesing child porn? Or is it OK because its funny? Who decides whats funny? The judge?

of course it does. and it's a common excuse by the 'artists' who hang out on some boards that it's just art, a drawing and not the real thing.

i don't give a fuck how it's been handled legally, IMO it is portraying a sex act performed by or on a minor, point. whenever i see someone tries to submit that crap, i kill the listing and tend to hand out a blacklisting.

as far as 'original' hentai is concerned, it's my understanding (and i may be totally wrong) that the sexually active females in those are basically always underage. Japan bans pubic hair from being shown, so they use younger characters.

SailorMoon for example, although very harmless to most others, is rather disturbing, if you look at it as an adult, i don't like it being shown as kiddie program.

Here in aussie land cartoon/drawn images depicting minors under the age of consent being 18 or refered to as lolicon, serves up the exact same jail time as the real shit 25yrs.

so out of interest if you have Lisa simpson in a funny cartoon blowing Mr Burns you could get 25 years in prison?

Don't quote me on this mate but I reckon content of that nature would be allowed to slide. This was more in relation to Dojin or hentai style's which are more life like than simpsons style, if you get what I'm saying.

I should add that I think legaly, their saying content that is more anatomically correct and underage is an offence. As in Simpsons style it's more fictional but don't quote me on that. I don't act as a judge in real life or play one on T.V. :)

if that is a serious POV they are having, they open a wide field for CP. all it takes is drawing characters with 4 fingers and toes only.

Yehp true that mate. I was under the impression it was more a crack down on the loop hole that lolicon can't be real if it's drawn/animated.

What worries me is that they use police and court time and resources to go after cartoon depictions (or in the US, stories) when there are still so many depictions of real kids being abused. The guy was obviously a soft target, and they got their conviction - but for every guy reading this cartoon stuff there are probably 25 looking at the real thing.

Whatever you think of this fictional material morally, the authorities the world over should be spending all their efforts on protecting and rescuing real children, rather than prosecuting over cartoons and stories. It's a question of priorities.
