Why speed cameras are unfair and dangerous

I have noticed that people around speed cameras break suddenly, and just look down at the speedometer. And so take there eyes off the road. If someone walked in front of them, they would simply be run over as the driver is not concentrating on the road.

Placing cameras on a hill, it nonsense, as cars by nature speed up.

Also a cars speedometer is not exact. If you have a gps in your car it will give you a true speed. Compare this to your car speedometer and you will see a difference. Thus if you go though a speed camera, you may think your doing the limit, but may find your going over the limit.

A £60 fine is nothing to a high wage urner. But for a low waged or unemployed, its a cruel punishment. £60 for many is several weeks food, bills and so on. It pushes the poor into lot of problems.

It also becomes a joke, when you can steal a car, dive mad, knock someone over, and just get a slap on the wrist. Yet, in truth go a few files over the limit and you will find you get 3 points and £60 fine. This surly must make people feel negative to the law.

If someone cant afford a £60 fine then they shouldnt have a car. Or even better drive within the speed limit. Or better still the lazy fucker should go and get a job

A couple of weeks on thin rations would probably do them a bit of good unless they were rushing to a job interview.

In this day and age if they don’t have the wit or imagination to work out where the speed cameras are or how to get a proper job they should just do the decent thing and jump under a bus.

When you live in a country where someone from eastern Europe is desperate enough for work that he hangs underneath a train through the channel tunnel to get where the jobs are while tax payers support third generation unemployed shit-stains from council estates then its time to ask a few questions.

What sort of fucking failure would still be poor in the UK after we have just been through the biggest gold-rush type boom since the second world war?

Here Here.

I think we are now at a stage where in this country, where the government has openly admited that we need cheap Eastern European labour otherwise Londons and other big cities hotels, tranport system and resturants would pretty much grind to a halt without them. That unemployment benefit should be abolished. Makes me sick to see these thieves (thats what they are) still taking hard working families money while sitting down the pub doing fuck all.

But I do agree about the points. I suggest letting those who can afford big fines, be able to exchange their points for a larger fine. say 3 points = £1000

PS not because I think thats fair. Just because I have 9 points and would gladly have swaped them for £3k as the last two sets of 3 points I got I had to give to my girlfriend :( I would have prefered to get a bigger fine that to have her moaning

I for one hate speed cameras with a passion but your arguement is totally flawed. As someone who does 50k miles per year all over the midlands and north they are the bain of my life.

The first reason about braking suddenly is exactly why SPECS cameras are being introduced as they work out your average speed over a set distance and in a period of time and not at one point in time therefore elimating the sudden braking effect.

The bit about placing them on hills is crap - if your car speeds up then lift off the throttle or apply the brakes. Further the comment about speedos being off is true BUT thats why there is a tolerance in speed cameras to allow of this - its usually something like speed limit + 10% + 3mph so the camera will only flash in a 50mph zone if you are doing over 58mph for example.

The last comment is the only sensible one you have made but thats not so much an indictment of the fines for speeding as much as the pathetic punishments dished out for other crimes - the simple solution to this whole problem is dont speed. If you choose to speed (and yes I regularly do) then you have to be prepared to take the punishment - the whole speed camera strategy is seriously flawed especially when it comes to positioning of cameras etc etc but they are here to stay so get used to it and either invest in a camera detection system or dont speed!

yep speeding cameras are there to collect money. period. Thats pretty much what all policing is there for these days. Thats why I suggest not making everyone have to have points. Bigger fines for those who want to pay them (means more money, which is the whole exersize anyway) and points for those who have "Sticky Back Syndrome" Help keep more broken down Fiestas off the road

I dont think it was sarcasm
and i agree 100% with SGS we live in a very rich country in comparison to most and those lazy fuckers who sit in pubs and collect giro's should be put in the forces

On the subject of speed cameras
we need more people with petrol filled tyres
We in Cambridgeshire have very few speed camera's left now as they are all getting destroyed

amazing how the use of the petrol filled tyre evolved from South Africa in the 70's
maybe there's a glossy documentry photo book in this...any takers ???

I dont know if there is still a north south divide. But I can tell you this. If you want a labourer, not a brick layer or a skilled tradesman, but a labourer, down here they are on £175+ a day. If you wanted to pay a labouer $175 (cash) a day and had a months work, gave them the job to start monday. Nine out of ten wouldnt turn up as they would have got 10 other offers of a job and would have gone somewhere better.

We call the builders down here "The Prawn Sandwich Brigade" We are in the biggest boom seen, with the UK leading pretty much every other european country in most economic measurments. Thats why we have so many Eastern Europeans here. While £175 isnt alot, its still better then whatever you get on the social. I dont believe there is any excuse for someone to be unemployed in the UK today.

If you want any building trade workers in London today you need to get Polish workers. they are fantastic workers and good tradesmen
NO tradesmen will go into central London

When I lived in London just off Piccadilly I found a Chip shop Nr BT Tower.
I was being served and noticed water pouring from his ceiling in the back shop
he told me it had been like that for 2 days as he could not get a plumber to come into central areas of London...Luckily I used to be a Kitchen fitter so i ran home got tools and fixed it for him...

Charged him £400 though .......... :lmao2:

Why dont they work in London

£8 a day (at least) Congestion charge
£40 a day parking
At least 3 tickets a week when you forget to feed meter..another £120 (at least)
more fines because the fucking congestion charge is impssible to pay and you forget
and 4 hours a day travelling
Ordinary workers just cant afford to live in london and that is spreading to other areas outside

don't speed, no reason to break or panic, noone gets run over.

or get a real car. they come with cruise control.

Placing cameras on a hill, it nonsense, as cars by nature speed up.
cars do not speed up. the driver accelerates them. which quite frankly doesn't raise the speed limit.

get a real car. they come with cruise control.

a clock showing less speed than you are doing is against the law. that car is not fit for the road.

saying GPS was exact when cheap deivces have a tolerance of 45 meters and more is a ludicrous act.

A £60 fine is nothing to a high wage urner. But for a low waged or unemployed, its a cruel punishment. £60 for many is several weeks food, bills and so on. It pushes the poor into lot of problems.
the poor shall walk or use public transport.

Tesco Value Noodles for 8p aside, what food do you get for 60 quid that will last weeks?

i say lift all laws concerning stealing. let me sort it out myself. the first touching my car will be shot. that'll teach the rest.
