I know there's variations on this, but put simply, how do you all do with SE versus TGP traffic?
I've sat on my arse for a few months, to be honest (well not really, I was experimenting with lots of blogging), and watched the search engine stats go through the roof while the sales went down. Recently I began doing TGP submissions again and sales are going through the roof now.
I think it's always been a game of seeding the TGP's with the new stuff, and the added benefit is when the galleries end up on the SE's later. I've just heard so many times that SE traffic is where the gold is, and I do well from SE traffic, but not quite as well from sowing the fresh content on the TGP's...
Hmmm. Just wondered what other people's experiences are? :handjob:
If I was to start a new SE project I'd add some tgp galleries into the mix for sure ... have never submitted galleries looking for mass traffic, but they have their uses.
Chances are the SE traffic hitting your blogs is a bit general perhaps and needs some uber-duber filtering?
I primarily work in micro fetish markets: sadism, edgeplay, etc ect so I can't comment on vanilla sites conversion ratios.
Generaly my se/ppc traffic converts 3 times better then gallery avg 1:90-300 with the same sites/niche on tgp being 1:300-500. Thats with fresh content as well.

Our type-in / bookmark / SE traffic converts somewhere between 3 & 15 times better than TGP traffic, depending on the site.
SE isnt what it use to be. a couple of years ago there were still people who hadnt found all the free porn and so these people used the search engines. But now more and more people know where the free porn is. Optimise your galleries for search engines and you can often get the best of both worlds

But remember all those noobs pouring onto the net every day JT - I'd bet my ass the first thing that gets typed into Google on the brand new PC the second the Mrs has gone to bed is "big tits filthy bitch cocksucking whore who does shit my wife won't do". Or words to that effect. Or do they just stick to eBay and car insurance?

I guess, are there still people in the western world without coumputers but the rate at which new people by them who have never had one before must be falling rapidly. So yes you are right there will be newbies looking for smut, but my bet it its falling at a very quick level.
The upside to that is micro niches that are so obscure, generaly have to be "googled" to be found and when they do bingo. Up come my sites. :)

In my experience......................
Search Engine Traffic - Converts much better but is more difficult to attract and in smaller quantities.
Gallery traffic - Easy to get in large quantities in a smaller space of time. Though it convertis at higher ratios - much hugher unless you've worked out how to use and convert it.
I get some great search engine traffic for a DVD site of mine, I get around 400 uniques from search engines each dat and it converts somewhere around 1:50 Though I aim for a wide range of narrow search terms, aiming for more general terms like adult dvd or porn DVD drives the conversion ration up to about 1:130
Building a general porn fresite/TGP I'd go for a mix of traffic, even with a paysite you'd rely on your afilliates to send the bulk of traffic but it's still worth optimising the site for a range of specific keyword terms and you'd be surprised how many sales you make and the rate of conversion.

Interesting. At Webmaster Access traffic seminar one of the guys who pioneered solo girl sites (I forget his name) said that one if the famous 'teen' solo girls talent is about 28. New surfers haven't seen the site before, are unaware of the idea of a solo girl site, and to them, she is a 18 year old barely legal cutey and out comes the credit card.
Not saying you are wrong, wouldn't dream of it, just offering another POV.

I'm sure most of the 'teen' girls are much older with the odd exception.
However, bear in mind that there are always going to be large numbers of 'new' surfers. We're not going to get to a point where everyone in the world had a computer.
Aging populations produce 1000's of new web surfers each day, every year hundreds of thousands of kids leave home to go to university in the UK alone, most of which now come with an internet connection, I remeber what I started looking at the first time I was away from my parents computer - this is the same the world over.

Oh my point wasnt that they were not teens, but that the site had been up for years and years and years and so she is no longer a teen.

Got to love the Hun. :)
Even after all these years we broke our all time record for a single day sign-ups with a gallery there last week. :)

With the right gallery going to the right site you can do very well with the Hun and if you had the top spot you could make bank. :)
I agree Huns traffic is golden every single time I put galleries up there.

With Google adwords you have to be careful if you're advertising a paysite. A lot of the surfers are looking for free porn so it's best to make it clear it's a paysite in the text, i.e. Young Pornstars - 20,000 pictures, 30 hours of Video, $5.95 trial membership Or somthing similar. You'll get less clicks, but it'll be better quality traffic.

We used to use a purpose built landing page and it worked ok for a bit with adwords.
Adwords is king for big ticket, mainstreme products and services. The ROI on the campaigns is stagering when compared to adult memberships.
