Whats the best make/model of camera thats got the highest flash sync speed?

Ive got my 30D upto 1/200, any higher and im seeing the shutter curtain on any image taken with external flash heads.

I hear the Nikon D70 can go a lot higher, is there any truth in this?

I used to have a D70. If I remember correctly it can do up to 1/500

Why do you need a fast shutter sync?

good lighting is all you need.

If you are using strobes/flashguns to illuminate the scene, they will
freeze the action for you - you dont need to worry about having a faster shutter speed - and if bracketing your exposures, you can only do so by
varying your aperture.

The normal rule for handheld steady shots, which is:

focal length of lens (mm) x shutter speed > 1

does not apply when using flash as your main light source.
