I say modern day TV is rubbish to the point it's ridiculous. Bring back Transformers, bing back Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors!

Modern day kids TV is crap, but much of the adult stuff is top notch. In fact, I reckon that today's TV is better than ever.

In the kids realm, I would love to see Saturday Starship come back because I thought Gilbert the alien was legendary. As for adult TV, a new season of Twin Peaks wouldn't go amiss.

Right, I should have added I'm on about kids TV.

Either I'm getting old at an enormous speed, or the shows get worse by the week. And loud. And annoying. And hectic.

For some reason in the last few years they seem to have cut back on children's TV shows.

But then again normal TV has got to pot.

I suspect its because they now hire just a bunch of heartless accountants, while in the past they allowed creative people to be in charge.

I guess relativities TV is so cheap, and to begin with got huge ratings. But the trouble is they seem comfortable on just going reality.

I also suspect that things have thinned out as there are for more TV channels, but that said, I suspect that they still have bigger budgets today then they did in the past. I bet shows such as 'rising damp' was very low cost compared to shows today.

I think also it does not help that they pay people on TV huge amounts. Just look at EastEnders, they are all very well paid.

Its not that great shows cannot be made. Father Ted was and still is an excellent show.

I think its a shame that they do not put on classic children's shows, as I would love to watch them again. Such as Ivor the Engine, Willow the Wisp and so on.

They seem to be spending for more these days on daytime shows.

Blue Peter is still not a bad show. Although it still bugs me that competition cut of ages are something like 14. Its rather embarrassing having to enter and lie about my age. What is worse is that I never win.

I often feel that the bbc has for too much to spread the cash over. I never understand why the still have radio 1, which is now been replaced many times by commercial stations.

i think the problem with the BBC is that if your making a programme about "ethnic" or "African" or even "womens" issues then a budget miraculously appears and when i say "womens" issues i mean dyke TV
We came up with a new concept 5 years ago and pushed it round the TV channels until we got fed up. We were actually told that if we made something about the above issues it had more chance....the concept is huge today by the way (bitter twisted !!)

As for childrens TV No wonder kids today are mindless idiots who think wearing tracksuits and getting pissed is cool...
all i had to play with was a football and trees..... Old person rant

Radio 1 is worth having simply for the lack of ads. Not that I listen to it anyway :P

Seems a poor reason to keep the station.

Seems like a great reason to me. There's also the fact that millions of people listen to it, so why get rid of something so popular?

Do u guys remember button moon ?? LOL I used to love that when I was little.

As for TV programs, Theres nothing I really want back, just more thrillers - programs like spooks... or 24.

And I think we've had enough "reality" type programs - have you seen that new one with the dog trainer? and supernanny!? They are utter shite!!!

Oh god what a memory! The stage show of button moon came to the theatre when I was working there.. what a waste of a few afternoons of my life that was. Although I did name several of the orchestra after characters to while away the time. I called the conductor Eggbert.. that nickname stuck to him for many moons(pun intended)

In fact I still think of him as Eggbert LOL
