They are wanting to fine drivers £100 and 6 points if you do 45 mph in a 30 zone. Well if you do not know an area well I bet thats easy to do.

With the price of tom toms getting cheaper these days and many have speed cameras on them, its cheaper to buy one of those than get a fine.

These days I tend to avaoid roads with speed cameras.

Do you not remmeber your highway code?

Built up area (street lit)- cars 30 mph
Single carriage ways - cars 60 mph
Dual carriage ways - cars 70 mph
Motorways - cars 70 mph

Built up areas (street lit) - push bikes as fast as you can speddle
but it is illegal to wear a clown suit whilst riding a push bike at night.:noway2:

thing is some areas where you think its 40 mph its 30 mph. also at say 3am does it realy matter????

To be honest I avoid areas where they have speed cameras.

but i may treat myself to a new gps system. the one i have is great, the only thing it does not have that new ones all seem to have is where speed cameras are. and some also warn you if your speeding (as it knows the road speeds of the road you are on).

If they do pass this, then you will find people will be baned after being court twice (6 points each time).

45 in a 30 is 50% over the speed limit, like doing 105 on the motorway. 6 points seems pretty just to me.

30 zones are normaly built up areas, hitting a pedestrian at 45mph rather than 30 would make a hell of a lot of difference to the chance of them surviving I would imagine.

i find that you need to do 40mph as at 30mph the kids manage to get out of the cars way.

The roads have signs on them telling you what speed you can do.
And it doesn't matter if it is 3am or 10pm if your speeding.

thats ok if you can read the signs, but it means putting my glasses on.

I sometimes have to mount the pavement, just to make sure.

debateable. i once rushed to the airport and passed a school building at some 60 mph. on a sunday. at 4 am. dunno about your area, but that's a time and day where i rarely see school kids on the street.

would be nice if there was an effort to have electronic signs, reacting to actual circumstances. weekdays till say 5pm lower speeds and up them reasonably on weekends and during night hours.

seeing those signs cost money while 'speeding' at ungodly hours gets them money, chances will be slim.

TBH sometimes I'd rather they were on the pavement. Coming home yesterday, got stuck behind a bus going uphill doing 5mph. Why was the bus doing 5mph? Because there was a cyclist in front of the bus, and there was no room for the bus to overtake him/her. Meanwhile there was an empty pavement right next to the road.

then the cyclist should of stopped so the bus could pass hehe I do acknowledge its scary on the roads but its getting that way for pedestrians!

we have to avoid cyclists/skateboarders and oaps doing about 25 mph in their motorcarts that will drive straight at you if you dont move aside!
