I was reading the thread which mentioned Joey Deacon on Google so I tried googling Geezer. I found these results on an urban dictionry site:

1: A Geezer is a male englishman who likes drinking, football, and violence, preferably all at the same time. Wants to be the typical cockney jack the lad. They dress up smart to normally pull 'birds' favourites being Stone Island and Burberry. Theyre basically like a better meaner version of a Chav and not bad people to know aslong as you just prove your a 'geezer'. Sorted me ol' mucker...

2: USA definition: Old bastard. Elderly, cranky old son of a motherfucker who drives too damn slow and complains about how things were in his day

3: A person who enjoys consuming large amounts of alcohol, acting rowdy, and splitting peoples wigs. All because they have entirely too much time on their hands.

4: slang for any "salt of the earth" type bloke you might meet in the street

That's completely lost me, or is that from the 1758 dictionary or something.

Pretty much what the rest of the world would think if you used it anywhere else.
I would add, they usually wear hats when driving too slow. Sometimes prone to smoking cigars and hogging the end of the bar, balancing a beer on their copius bellies telling "when we" stories and using the phrase "kids today" over and over and over. Also "in my day" is peppered generously throughout the conversation. They usually revel in their irascibility and truly believe they are either funny or admired when, in fact, they are boring. They also use the crusty but benign tactic to weazle drinks out of younger people who hope it will shut them up and stop talking about the war. "The War" changes with the generations. But most "geezers" believe that "kids today" need discpline and that a little national service would sort them out.


Apart from driving too slow, that probably sums me up pretty well :reading:
