Has anyone else been experiencing internet issues.

It's like for half the day I can access everything but then later, half of the web is inaccesible but for no reason other than it just won't load but it works for other people?

I did call them and they said something abot the junction box - when we mvoed here we had a lot of problems getting a line as the box was already stressed and they haven't gotten around to putting a new one in for this expansion side of town...Or theycould just be panning me of with stupid excuses

Is it possible its anything to do with their DNS?

Maybe try using openDNS (http://www.opendns.com/) and see if that helps?

Eventually yes - months back. That particular saga is ongoing and I now actually beg members of my family to call them instead as it really does drive me mad talking to them.

I hate it so much. It's just so bloody pointless. If we could go with anyone else we would.

She's probably bound on a 18th month contract. My mate is and is regretting it. BT is a heap of shit.

Nope we're past our contract date thingy BUT no one else service here. Sky and BT are the two places that own this place, we can't get virgin.

Won't switch to any of these 'outside' broadband people ie. orange, talk talk etc as they as just as bad if not worse and your line is STILL a bt one so it defeats the purpose.

blunt
10-24-07, 12:53 PM
You're better off going with sky then ....

I don't *think* it is...

They bought Easynet and are doing local loop unbundling.

http://www.samknows.com/broadband/dsloperator.php?provider=easynet

But maybe they use BT copper on the exchanges they haven't unbundled yet?

blunt
10-24-07, 01:20 PM
Yeah but they dont cap their shit for a tenner a month @ 16 Meg

Edit- Sky require a BT phone line for their broadband.

I have just moved house and switched to BT Business Total Broadband.

I have support for up to 5 machines and used it this morning and it was awesome. My call was answered within 30 secs and they connected to my static ip address and sorted my little problem out.

Thumbs up here.

Yeah with sky you still need a BT line but they use they're own equipment, they're tech support is ok once you get past first line.
I ve got the 16mg package and its pretty good just wish they did static ip's though !

i can promise they do use bt phone lines, i work for sky broadband order managment and i spend half my life on the phone to bt trying to sort out there shit lol

alot of the customers are using sky dslams but the broadband still runs down bt's copper phone lines (where as virgin use there own fiberoptic lines)

sky like orange/talk talk are running a plan where you only pay them and nouthing to bt however the phone lines are still bt's :(

wingless

and you need sky tv to have there broadband

Though to be fair to BT, broadband issues are very rarely on the copper.

Oh and on the flip side, I used to work for BT and once sat in with the broadband support team and in an hour 20% of the calls where from Sky and Talk Talk customers saying stuff like

'I can't get through to my customer support and I know they still use your lines, can you help'
and
'My ISP said it's your fault and refuse to fix it, can you help me'

What other industry would you palm your customer compaints off on your suppliers.

now theres something we can both aggree on, when i was working for sky broadband provising i was told with things like dacs and tpon to get the customer to call bt and bt wholesale wouldent talk to us, it wasent until i was promoted to order managment that i found out this was bs and it was us that needed to call bt, the same goes both ways sadly where bt palm off customers to us when its there issue or telling customers that theres no problem at the exchange and that were lieing to them when they is.

the most common issues atm are dacs, failty tie pairs or routing issues

on a side note if anyone on here does have sky broadband and has any problems (like delayed orders or anything) just pm me and i will do my best to help

Actually I very much doubt they're ever lying. The in house CRM stuff most of BT use was cutting edge when they installed it about 20 years ago if the call staff say there isn't a problem it's because they system is telling them that.

wingless
10-24-07, 02:54 PM
sorry i think lieing may have been a bad choice of words, i dont mean there misleading them on purpose, what i mean that the system might be showing incorrect information or something similer, so the information they give the customer is incorrect so the customer calls us back and therefore gets passed back and forth

What I meant with Sky and BT is that we don't have virgin, those two are the only companies that service this area. We have SKY tv and we inquired about broadband and it's dead cheap and the rest of it but only 2mb AND they need to use the BT line as they have nothing up here of ther own, even though the call centre is about just 2 mins away from our house.

They just double charged me my latest bill. Got one for 500 quid. I rang them up and they apoligised telling me it wouldn't be coming out of my account.

Check my balance today and they're taken the whole 500 quid. Wankers

So i ring them up ask for a refund. What do they say? Oh sorry sir all we can do is add credit to your account. FUCKING SCUMBAGS.

Have just been down the bank and claimed the FULL amount back via direct debit indemnity.

4 more months of this contract and i can move to cable.

wingless
10-24-07, 04:33 PM
god know why u wheretold that Bradderzzz as when we do refunds we have a choice of refund or billing account

you should be able to get the same speed with sky as with bt as its done depending on your distance from the bt exchange

Well ........ I just activated my 2 VOIP Lines that work through the BT Hub.

It's crystal clear, you would never know it was VOIP :)

Interestingly BT have a new set of numbers for this service and they all start
05601 ****** I called to see what it costs to call these from another BT Landline and it appears that it's the same as BT Landline to BT Landline.

If you are thinking about getting BT Hub i'd recommend it. All landline calls are free on my line 2, and seeing as i'm on the phone all day i think i'm about to get my moneys worth.

Edit : Calls to mobiles are capped at 25p for the first hour
