It's one of those services that could be outsourced to India. Have some guy there ping your boxes every other minute and mail you right away when issues come up.

Now having used the term outsourced, watch the spammers come into this thread. Boardtracker accounts on fire. :D

Would need at least SMS and landline messages if possible. Looking at these guys here (http://www.server-monitoring.co.uk/) at the moment.

It has a free trial too so well worth a go. Without sms minimum it would be a waste of time for us.

I'm one of those freaks using email regularly over their mobile and always catch myself assuming most do these days, my bad. :)

Email is good but when we are in the office we usually have the site loaded or are FTPing files up anyway. Really want monitoring for when we are out or away just in case of problems.

I'm too old to learn new tricks. Only just got the swing of texting :)
Telehouse keep an eye on my servers for me.

It's all a curse really anyway, what did we do before all the quick info sources? I recall the days when offices were up to date when 50+ people shared a fax machine, and it used this thermo print paper that would make the printing fade away when it was exposed to the sun. Put it on your desk on Friday when you go home and you couldn't read it anymore Monday morning.
What did we do? Wrote actual letters, on paper, put hem in envelopes where we'd stick funny little pictures on and mailed them off.
And the world still worked just as fine.
Right, now I talked myself into a proper depression there. Well done.

Bleh, hated them. Funnily enough I know someone who still uses one. And he actually gets orders and things done with it, which is the most amazing part for me.

But its all email? I want to be text when my server goes down. Is that possible?

Yes, you can set it to text you every few minutes and then text you when the server is back up again.
