View Full Version : New TGP Design
I'm looking to resdesign my TGP and wondering about the Pros and Cons of different designs. I'm caught between thumb links and text links, thumbs look good and maybe hold the surfers attention, but text links would cut down on bandwidth. I've also got a fairly large archive section I'd like to give a fair bit of space to.
Anything else I should bear in mind? Sponsors positions, ease of use for surfers etc etc....
In your opinions what are the better desgned TGPs, I'm either going to do this myself, (my HTML and Photoshop isn't bad!) or go to a designer - either way I'm going to have to have a clear idea in my head what I'm looking for!

With regards to thumbs or text links. Alot of that is going to depend on how and with who you trade links with. In my experiance thumb tgp's traffic is no where near as productive in trades as text links. So much so I no longer trade with thumb tgps.

I've always thought text TGPs are the better SE fodder. To please the surfer eye, you could mix it, have a few thumb on top and a shitload of text below.
I'd do the archives as extra pages, yet another page for the SEs to spider and more room for ads.
I tend to agree with leaving the archive as extra pages, thoough I'd like to link them from the top rather than the bottom of the page. Hopefully this'll give more long-term traffic to submitters.
I'd still like to keep thumbs on the page - though I'll probably limit this to about 50 with 150+ text links

I haven't run any proper tgp's for about 4 years, but back when I had a few this kind of layout was the only type that I had any degree of success with ... thumbs to tart it up a bit and make sure you at least squeeze a few clicks out the surfer and tons of text links for se's.
Found it worked well to textlink to a load of your own galleries hosted on the same domain without the tracking code etc so its spiderable then use those linked galleries for other SE shenanigans..
i have a thumbs only tgp and it burn the BW like nobodies buisness! i have no design skills so i'm loath to redisign it but if i was to i think i would have about 30 thumbs tops
What do you recon to this then?

Still needs a little work, I'm having problems alligning the thumbs at the top and I'll need to add some more sponsors, though you can get the idea
Okay, I've now managed to get the thumb allignment problems sorted - any opinions? On the design/layout?
Looks OK, the main part needs filling up. Also you could do with a snazzy logo
Yeah, I'm going to go to work on the sponsors over the weekend, add a trade script and get some hard link exchanges. Anyone on here have any TGPs they want to trade links on?

I'm using Firefox, and the main page seems three times wider than my screen ( my res is 800x600 )
and your recip code isn't showing , just the recips themselves.
;)
Thanks for letting me know, hopefully it should be solved now?

Thats what makes it all worth while :)
personally i don't like the thumbs being all in one lot without any spacing. other than that, clear cut layout, eye pleasing. not enough adds for the wankers to click on. :D
