Where can I find the laws about starting an adult site?

Hi! Wannabe webmaster here. I'm interested in starting a site of amateur male pics for women, and I want to do it legally..... I live in the US, but the regulations there are rather burdensome. I ran across a web host in England that looks good, and I'm wondering where I can read up on the relevant UK laws.... Hopin' maybe there'll be a little less paperwork on the other side of the ocean!

What danbrusca said. But adding to that there is 1000's of US and webmasters all running the most successfull porn websites on the net. Just keep and eye out for 2257 regs.

The reason I expect problems with the US rules is that I'm not posting my own pics; I want to post pics from guys online who send them to me.... And there's this whole set of rules about record-keeping; I'd be supposed to get ID from them and get them to give me every name they've ever used and keep all that stuff on file.... And I kind of doubt most guys would want to give all that to some woman online with a porn site. Most of the guys I've chatted with about this haven't even told me their names; a fair number crop part of their face out of their pics....

why would you? your actual business would be US based, you'd just lease service from the UK.

obviously you can incorpoarte in the UK by starting a Limited for example. if the director is UK based, it can be the official owner of your sites.

mind that the UK laws too require you to use over 18 models, which you cannot check if pics are sent to you. additionally you cannot even check if the sender is the guy in the pics sent.

I presume the offence would be NOT having the appropriate paper work in place. You could NOT be done for having underage "models" on your site unless they could prove they ARE underage. So you can't prove they are of legal age but "they" cannot prove they are underage.

Like I said, I know more or less fuck all about 2257, and to be honest, who does know exactly what it's all about?

Anyway, so you are so serious about starting this site with men on, cos there ain't a million and one others, so you ask for legal advice on a WM board. Maybe a solicitors board might be a better place to ask.

It's a shaky area relying on submissions for your content. At the end of the day the buck stops with you. If you haven't got a licence that points to the producer/record holder for the pics you're leaving yourself open to legal hassles whether UK or US (or Europe or any civilised place) I would never take public submissions of porn content. Member pics dressed and even sexy yes, but nothing downright adult. Buy in your guy content and know you've got legal licenced shit.

If you can't find it buy a camera and make your own - quality won't be any worse than submitted pics and you'll own the exclusive rights to all your content. Also if the guys that want to submit to your site are close enough to you do the same.. make them come to you and take pics yourself (then you can take a photo of them with their ID and have them sign a release and you have all your US paperwork intact yourself)
