They do, now we are working on retention. Gawdy has got 6 old models this weekend and 5 photographers for 2 days shooting content. More original content, updated daily from next week with a new original exclusive set :)

Its been a long time since we have paid for any banner spots anywhere. Do they still work for you?

We try all sorts and are learning all the time. We had a banner on worldsex which was an absolute waiste of time. Complete rubish. Hun is better, but still not great. JT does banners, but he doesnt have much mature. We keep looking along with galleries, affiliates, banner spots, adwords, banner spots. Its still very much a learning curve for us and our niche.

Thats why we need the wisdom of you guys who have been around for a while :)

What works best for you SGS?

As far as generating our own sales our mailing list always converts best followed by our blog, SE then our TGPs. We used to buy a lot of banner spots back in the beginning and although they converted very well for a couple of years the performance tailed off quickly as TGP galleries started to catch fire.

I think that back in the 90s we would be spending something like £3000 to £4000 a week on banner spots which was quite a lot back then but the returns were just crazy. We didn’t put any effort at all into the affiliate side until much later when we really wanted to take more time out for ourselves. When TGPs gained their foothold and galleries became the norm banners just died overnight.

We closed our message board down as well at the same time that galleries really started to take off because although the message board really set Lady-Sonia.com off to a huge flying start at the beginning it became very time consuming and we really had better things to do.

Banners still work, can work well, but the click through ratio is much lower these days. I show quite a few banners and make alot of sales from them, but the click through ratio these days is low. But in my experiance not any worse than galleries and for me sales from banners are higher than galleries. But that could be because I know my traffic.

Sounds about right and it was the drop in click through that killed them for us on the sites we were advertising on.
