not that cold really, just a tad too warm to get snow, but surfaces cold enough to freeze the rain.

snow needs max temps around -3 to zero °C. say it was a cold night creating frosty surfaces, and the morning brings warm humid air, the rain will not become snow but hit the ground as water and turn into nice layers of ice. awesome to drive on.
