Wel I dont know how many of you also get back, shoulder and neck pains through long hours being at a machine?

I started to get some really nasty pains so went and got one of those electric gadgets that give your muscles shocks.

I have to be honest here at first it hurt but I just finished my 3rd session and the pain is no where to be felt. I have no doubt giving yourself shocks can be good for you though nothing else was working.

Get a better chair. We use Herman Miller (http://www.hermanmiller.co.uk/HomePage_new.asp?pagerequested=HPUK) chairs which are excellent for helping posture and stopping back problems when working long hours at a desk.

That Aeron chair on Herman Miller could become an early Christmas present to myself. I've recently been experiencing lower back pain. The chair I have now cost £389 but I think the fact that it is so adjustable in every way is a detriment. Adjustability makes the chair very comfortable but not necessarily good for back support.

What a bunch of wussies :)

And it's not being at a computer that causes pain Paul, it's probably too much masturbation - RSI and all that

Its your age.

But to be honest, have my pc next to my bed, as this way I can lay down. I used to feel a pain why I was sat in a chair. But no had any problems now I lay on the bed (or in it if its cold).

I have a reclining swivel chair and find myself sitting in the stupidest of positions ... gonna have to force myself to sit sensibly as my back is getting pretty fuckered also.

I'm right handed (mouse hand) and get really bad pains in the right of my neck/shoulder. I might look into that electic thing.

instead of treating yourself with electric devices and fuck up your nervous system while you are at it, fucking get up and move and stretch every couple of hours.

also get a waterbed.

I have one of those. They're also fun when you're drinking to hook people up to and see how high they can take the dial being turned ; )

The Aeron is the only one to have. I bought one for myself first after seeing them at an office exhibition at the Islington Design Centre but it soon started causing arguments as everyone wanted to use it so I had to buy three more.

find a hotel that has waterbeds. off the top of my head i only know one about 30 mins north of Hastings. give it a try, you won't wanna miss it again.

alternatively - and assuming you have the room - find a dealership and ask for a test ride. some will lend you a bed for a few weeks.

nothing like having a lie down and feeling like you flow on a cloud. awesome. i haven't had any real back ache that i could recall really since i made the move nearly 5 years ago.
