Which mpeg format is more universally accepted?

Mpeg1 or Mpeg4

I've not a clue. Just thought I'd get a few opinions.

MPEG4 is not really an MPEG Format. It's a MPEG header with other video coedcs in like DivX.
The only format which is accepted by 100% of all systems is MPEGI. MPEG2 is used for DVD's mostly.
