Its like as if a nuke had gone off and blow up the uk.
More rain due too.
Its amazing as you never think of the nock on affects such as drinking water becoming poluted, power stations shut down and so on.
I bet Tony Blair is buzzing he left now, and I bet Brown is wishing he never got the job.
Hmmm, what if...
The gulfstream stays in the wrong place until xmas and we get snow in the same quantities as the rain we've just had?
I wonder where...
The army are right now, surely a few helicopters and blokes in inflatable boats would be useful somewhere in the UK? It couldn't be that they're all busy elswhere?
I wonder if...
Gordon Brown will blame the chancellor in charge at the time for cutting funding to the armed forces over the last 10 years, and most notably the last 5 years while they've been fighting TWO wars?
I used to live in Worcestershire, and have been watching the chaos on Sky. Can't tell you how glad I am that I moved to sunny Scandinavia! So what's with the gulf stream thingie? I caught the end of something the other day saying it had stalled or something.... anyone care to fill me in?

Most likely because of the Ocean temperature, the gulf stream moved higher and the infill caused a load of high pressure - (It's only a wild guess) Which could mean this sort of weather being the norm across northern europe and further.
The gulfstream is the wind that blows more or less from the US across the atlantic and keeps the UK warmer than it otherwise should be. Its also the reason why its quicker flying back to the UK from NYC to london than it is going - its not just a breeze, its high altitude and high speed stuff.
The problem is, its moved slightly, so central europe is getting a heat wave thanks to the gulfstream hitting it, not us.
If I believed in "man made climate change" I'd blame that, but I'll have to just blame "climate change", as I don't

That'll be Xcite and his monsterous, child-killing, gas-guzzling, penis extension, people carrier then I suspect :P
As a Mancunian I am used to the rain but this gulfstream/globalwarming/xcitetv driving too many miles in his 4x4 collective is causing Manchester to be slightly wetter than normal.
Granted it s not as bad as down south but I don't live there so I don't care, learn to swim you southern jessies!!!!
If global warming exists where is all the blistering heat we where supposed to get?

Yup, thats why I mention snow at xmas.
Wouldn't mind a load of snow at xmas it would be great fun.
OAP's going arse over tits on their unnecessary shopping trips, they only go out to talk to other people cause they can't afford thier heating bills, I know me dad spends most of winter at my gaff cause it's cheaper for him.
Kids throwing snowballs at unsuspecting pedestrians and every fucker moaning about how cold it is.Great British public ain't they brill.
Oh and I get to play in the snow with my kids day after day.

I'm currently down near the floods and its really bad around 15 miles from where I am... My friends live in the bad areas and say that there is no water supply and people are even going as far out as 50 miles to buy bottled water - the stores have none left.

We're having major heat instead of major water.

Yes for 350,000 people you will need a van at least
Maybe even two vans :noway2:
DVT get down there an 87p bottle of water selling for £5.
But on a serious note how the fuck is this happening in one of the supposedly most developed countries in the world! They know these rivers will burst their banks but they do fuck all about it, then blame the drains for not coping with the rain.

it's been a tad chilly when i was down the shops this morning, only 27°C. brrr.
Just on ITV lunch time news, they knew the River Seven would burst its banks and called for the flood protection barriers/system, guess what happend to it,it go stuck in traffic getting to the river seven area needed and they called it a logitsical problem.Typical!

No one could have predicted the sheer amount of rainfall or exactly where it was going to fall -
On Friday evening I was driving down to the South of Poland (Czestochowa)- I knew showers were predicted - What fell was simply incredible - The road flooded within a couple of minutes - Rain didn't just fall, it was like something had picked up an Ocean and dropped it over the area. There was also a tornado that ripped out over 100 houses - This (tornado) was also sweeping the water from the ground and spraying that over us too -
The whole area was transformed from a hot sunny evening to a low black cloud in just a few seconds - It didn't seem to come from anywhere, just appeard from nowhere and created total mayhem for 15-20 minutes.

The weather satellites and all the other prediction services cannot always get it right, but they knew the River Seven was going to flood as it had done in previous years, so why didn't they have the flood barriers ready at the site instead of having too transport them in?

Because they didn't have you to manage the project.

HAHA! Vey good.I wouldn't have had the time, too busy on PLANET PHIL!
It just astounded me that they had to transport the barriers in and blamed logistics failure. So what do the poor people whose homes are flooded do now?
I think it might have been raining...
